Division Races in the NL and AL East

The Professor
The baseball race rolls on in the East. The Yankees and Phillies continue their march toward their respective division titles. The Phillies have recovered from recent bullpen blowups by Brad Lidge and Ryan Madson. For one night Cliff Lee looked human. But, I wouldn't get your hopes up that it will continue Florida and Atlanta. The Phillies have a potent offense clicking thanks to Jimmy Rollins. Also Jamie Moyer has been on fire since his move to the bullpen.

In the AL East race it seems that the Evil Empire continues to march on. Ever since the all-star break everything is going their way. Phil Hughes has even found his calling as a setup man. And doesn't it just seem that they win every close game. Plus, Boston keeps going along okay but, they can't catch fire with both a lineup and rotation that keep sputtering no one seems to be able to stay consistent this year for them.

Now on to the non contenders and their sad stories. Tampa Bay and Toronto the teams of inspiration from last year and the beginning of this year have fallen once again to the mighty powers of the Sox and the Yankees. Tampa Bay is preparing for the future as they have dealt Scott Kasmir for prospects. Toronto is salary slashing the best they can. Also it seems as if since Halladay didn't get traded that he kind of just gave up on the season. I don't see his fire anymore. Nothing to talk about with Baltimore, same with the Mets and the Nationals. Those teams are just sad. Only thing about the Mets is they should have had a good team and I can't believe that Jerry Manual hasn't been ripped more in the media than he has. The team has no fight and is one of the worst teams in baseball while, still possessing huge salaries for many of their players.

Atlanta and Florida continue to fight on for the wild-card but, my personal feeling is that no team will beat the Giants for the wild-card and I say that because down the stretch for playoffs pitching wins out and the Giants can pitch even Barry Zito is clicking.
