Divorce from Reese Witherspoon Devastated Ryan Phillippe to Thoughts of Suicide

Ryan Phillippe has recently confessed that he almost committed suicide from divorcing Reese Witherspoon. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were on their way to becoming America's most envious couple. Witherspoon was climbing the ranks as one of the top paid actresses and Phillippe's career was taking off as he was getting praise for films he appeared in such as Oscar winner Crash. Then a media frenzy broke out last fall. Rumors had swirled that actor Ryan Phillippe was having an affair with Australian actress Abbie Cornish during the filming of Stop Loss. Many tabloids went as far as to claim that Phillippe's wife had come across explicit cellular text messages that Cornish and Phillippe had exchanged. Other tabloids speculated that Phillippe couldn't cope with his then wife's instant fame. It was not long after that Reese Witherspoon announced a marital separation followed by filing for divorce. Ryan Phillippe recently gave a surprising interview discussing the aftermath of his divorce that he endured to UK magazine.

"After the divorce I wanted to die. I was ready to kill myself. I was not taking care of myself at all. I would wake up and cry and vomit," claimed Phillippe to Man About Town magazine. Has Ryan Phillippe learned anything from his failed marriage? According to Man about Town magazine, Phillippe stated, "Now, it's easy," he says. "When I was younger, I didn't have enough to cry about. But since I've had kids, I feel my work has become better, because my life is fuller and more complicated, and I've experienced so many highs and lows."

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe met at her 21^st birthday party. The two went on and appeared together in the film Cruel Intentions and later married that year in 1999. Reese Witherspoon became instant famous for such movies as: Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama. Witherspoon also won an Oscar for her role as June Carter-Cash in the 2005 film Walk the Line. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have two children that they share cusody of. They have a daughter, Ava and a son, Deacon. Witherspoon and Phillippe were married 7 years.

Reese Witherspoon is now seeing fellow actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The pair co-star together in the upcoming movie: Rendition. Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal do not answer questions to the media regarding their relationship.
