Divorce and the Violence it Brings

A weekend with the girls turned into one of the most important things I've ever done. I met two women who are going through a divorce. After they heard that I wrote articles for a living they asked me to tell their stories. At first I was not sure that there was a story there but hours later I realized this would probably be the most important one I would write.Trinity is a single mother of four and Christina is a single mother of three.Both women are strong on the outside but scared on the inside.Both women came out of abusive marriages and this is their story.

Christina came from a physical and mental abusive marriage.As i began speaking with her right away you could tell she was just barely able to keep the tears back.When she began to tell me the memories of the physical abuse she was put through she trembled.You could see the pain in her eyes.I too wanted to cry.To honor what she asked I will only tell what shes allowed me to write.Christina managed to find the strength to leave her husband.She thought that all the pain was done,But it really had just begun.

The fight, the struggle now turned to be even uglier than it was when she was together.This is when her soon to be x- husband began playing games.This time it didn't stop with her.He now involved the children.Remember that we have so many laws that are supposed to be there to protect us.Now lets see who really is protected.

It all began when one of her sons told her that daddy touched him wrong.Unsure of what to do she went to her mother.Young and lost not sure what to do she followed what her mother told her to do.So she spoke to the police department.To protect the children we won't go into details.She was told to continue things like normal and let them deal with everything.So she did.Unaware that the x-husband had got the news about the police ,she allowed him to take the kids for the weekend like normal.Approx 3 pm on Friday she dropped them off at his place.

Saturday evening around 9pm she was in the shower getting cleaned up for the night.She heard someone knocking on the bathroom door.The man said he was from the police department and he needed to speak with her.Christina got dressed and came out.The police department said there was a report filed that night about an hour prior to him coming to her home.He explained that the father reported that when the children were dropped off they were
all bloody and battered ,and they were dropped off by the mother.She asked "are you implying that I beet my kids?"

"I dropped them off Friday at 3 if they were bloody and beaten why wasn't there a report filed Friday instead its filed on Saturday?".The police said they were not able to give her any answers but they did half to arrest her.

The kids were taken into protective custody at this time.Christina was placed in jail without bail.When she finally did get bail they wanted $50,000 to bail her out.During this same time frame the mother of the husband reported that Christina had stolen her credit card and used it.Which the mother-in-law was lien.She was present at the time the credit card was used and gave her permission to do so.You see what is happening here.The father and grandmother were trying to turn the attention off the fact that the children stated he touched them.It is now 8 months after this has all happened and she is still trying to get her kids back.Do I believe her.?

Yes I do.I wish I could tell you all the details but I have to respect what she wants.She is deeply afraid that it might affect her from getting her kids back.Just in case he reads this.So for now Christina you are in our prayers and so our your children.Congrats on your upcoming wedding.You have chosen wisely this time and I know that you guys will be a happy family soon.The answer to your question.Do I think your story will help someone? Now there's trinity.A single mother of four still going through the divorce process.She comes from a physical and mental abusive marriage.Now her husband showed violence towards her and two of her children.It just so happens the two weren't his.I will give you a few of her memories but not all.Just to give you a picture of what her life was like with him.

Her youngest daughter was going through a rough potty training.She would have normal spills nothing to worry about until.The husband was yelling at her for wetting on the floor.As mom ran to get a towel she trusted that her husband would place the child on the potty.Mom could still here step dad yelling so she ran back and right as she got to the door she saw step dad swing open hand across the child's face.Trinity said"he hit her as if she was a grown man"Afraid and Young she grabbed her daughter and put her in the room in the safety of her sister arms.Then returned out to keep step dad away.You can only imagine what happened next.

Afraid of being a single mom and everyone telling her that she can't make it on her own.She stayed with him.No where to turn.She just knew that she would have to protect the children better.She stated "He always yells out my girls for everything.In his eyes his sons can do no wrong."

On night he came home drunk and she was telling him to leave.Which he wouldn't she knew that but she tried.Not knowing her daughters were standing in the hallway to hear what happened next.Her husband through a full can of beer at her face as he charged her and said he was going to kill her.Yes she still stayed.Afraid and didn't know what to do.Many years went by.More physical abuse happened.One day she finally found the strength to leave.

Did her pain end there?No it didn't.At first she stayed in the family home,but had to move because he kept letting himself in and sitting outside the home.He left her with no money and know where to go.She found a women willing to work with her on a payment plan to allow her and the children to get to safety.Well by this point she was think-en everything was finally over.She and the kids were now safe.Now thats not what happened.Here is when terror begins.

Her husband was following her places.Kept giving her threats like.If you don't come back you will regret it.He would call.Email her.Always threats and I want you back.One night he called her and told her he had swallow a bunch of pills.She called 911 told them and drove to where he was.She beat The police and the EMT to him.She choose to go in she didn't want the father of her children to die.Big mistake he began saying he was going to blow her head off and started moving to the room as if he was going for a gun.She took off in shear fear.

This was not the end to all.He was just drunk and hadn't swilled pills so they let him go.From this point is when he went to her sons because the tricks weren't working on her.He was telling her sons that mommy will never let you see me again.Your mommy is out tramping around.Daddy still loves her.If you be mean to her she will come back to me.You don't have to listen to her.Daddy will buy you what ever you want.

He bought the oldest son who is only 7 a gun.Not sure what type but her son said daddy let me fire it.By this point she couldn't take anymore so she filed for a domestic injunction it was denied twice.Lack of proof.It was set for a hearing in front of the judge.He showed admitted he had done all the things Trinity had listed and said he was getting help.Judge believed it and denied the injunction again.Now remember she is still going through the divorce.It is set for final hearing in 6 weeks.Let's all wish her luck.Pray for her and the kids to find happiness.

Heres two story's.One man tells lies and the children are removed from the safety of the mother.One man admits what he has done and is allowed to continue to stalk and harass.Our courts are so backed up that they cant spend the time hearing the cases.Imagine how many other women are out there going through the same thing.Is the laws there to protect them or those who do the damage?I think it's time that women start speaking up and law makers start paying attention.There should be harsh punishment for those like this.We need as a society to put a stop to all this.We need to start protecting those who really deserve it.Just think one day this might be you..
