any deep blue or black latex paint that is satin or flat (Behr Night Shade, or Shwerwin-Williams Black Swan)
any bright white latex paint that is satin or flat (Shwerwin-Williams Icicle, or Behr Ultra Pure White)
a crackle finish medium

one roller which is a quarter of an inch thick

Prepare the Used Wood Furniture Before Antiquing

The best part of using a crackle medium to antique furniture is that you don't have to sand the used wood furniture before applying the antiquing technique. Because the final result will be heavily textured, there is no need to worry about nicks, small surface cracks, or other "imperfections" in the used wood furniture.

Antiquing Used Wood Furniture: Apply the Base Coat First

Apply a coat of Behr Night Shade paint, or any other dark paint color of your choice. The base color is the the color that will be seen anywhere the top coat cracks.

The more of a contrast there is between the base coat colors and the top colors, the more dramatic the antiquing will be.

The base coat should be flat or satin enamel paint. Allow the base coat to dry completely in this antiquing process.

Drying time will depend on the temperature, the humidity level and the season. It could be four hours, or in very humid climates, it may take overnight to dry.

Apply the First Step in the Antiquing Process

When the base paint color has completely dried, it's time to apply the crackle medium. The crackle medium is what will relaly provide the antiquing affect on the used wood furniture. Brush or roll the Crackle product evenly,covering all areas ofthe base coat.

Allow to dry completely.

Finish Antiquing the Used Wood Furniture for Your Country Home Decor

For the last step, you must apply the paint quickly. For a high contrast to the Night Shade paint, use the Ultra Pure White paint.

To make the furniture look like it has spent sometime outside, apply a liberal amount of top coat paint.

For a less weathered look, apply only a thin layer of the white paint.

The crackle affect will begin immediately.

Let dry. Finish off with polyurethane to protect the antiqued look.
