One of the simplest and yet eye-catching invitations are basic die cuts of barbecue-themed items. The party information can easily be written on the back (date, time, and place) which also makes them inexpensive to mail. I've seen these invitations come in the form of hamburgers, hot dogs, ketchup bottles, BBQ grills, aprons, and the like, but the possibilities are endless!
Another very simple, yet very creative idea is to take a picture of the party host or hosts in a BBQ-themed picture. These can depict you showing off your culinary skills in front of the grill or even lounging by your backyard pool. These photos can easily be made into postcards and sent out as very festive invitations to a summer barbecue party. I have even utilized photo editing software to turn my pictures to a more humorous light. I have altered the pictures to make my grill "catch fire" or put interesting items on to the grill to cook (like shoes and beach balls).
I've also seen very elaborate BBQ party invitations as well. These are usually much more time consuming and costly to both make and send. The most creative invitations I've seen were aprons screen printed with the BBQ event's details on the front that were folded up and sent in bubble envelopes. Spatulas can be sent with an attached card with the barbeque's invitation attached. Virtually any item that falls into your barbeque's theme can be used as an eye-grabbing addition to your invitation.
Lastly, you can also get items printed up to use as invitations. You can custom order something like key chains, insulated can holders, even pens that have your event's details on it that will serve as a reminder of the upcoming BBQ party.
