Lavender Deoderant and Mouthwash Recipes

Wendy Rose Gould
Have you ever noticed how soft and beautiful a bundle of lavender is? It's soft purples and muted greens are enough to overwhelm your eyes. But then you breath it in and realize it's smell is even more breathtaking!

Well, if it's so beautiful to look at and even more wonderful to smell, what happens when you use it in a DIY beauty recipe? Magic!

Here are two fabulous recipes to give a go the next time you crave an aromatic adventure!

La-la-lavender Deodorant

I know, who would have thought you could make your very own deodorant? This is an easy recipe that works well and leaves you feeling fresh and flirty! Please note that this recipe is not ready to use right away. Okay, here's what you need to gather:

50 grams lavender

50 grams rose petals

10 drops lavender essential oil

10 drops rose essential oil

250ml vodka

Once you've prepared your ingredient list, the rest is easy as pie. First, place your lavender and rose petals in a medium sized bowl. Next, pour the vodka over the rose/lavender and add the essential oil. Add the oil drop by drop and continuously stir. This will help spread the oil evenly throughout the mixture.

After you've added your oil it's time to sit back and wait. I know it's a bummer, but the wait is totally worth it! Cover your bowl, place it in the refrigerator and let it infuse for 3 weeks. After the 3 weeks is up, remove the covering and strain the liquid.

Pour the mixture into an atomizer (any bottle with a spray nozzle will work). Use as you would your regular deodorant. You can also apply to to other parts of your body/clothing as a perfume!

Invigorating Lavender Mouthwash

Rinsing your mouth with this lavender-infused mouthwash is like living in lavender heaven atop lavender-scented clouds! This recipe is one of my favorites because the product you end up with is amazing and it's super easy to prepare/make. Before you begin, make sure you have the following items:

2 tablespoons rosewater

1 tablespoon fresh/dried lavender

1 cup distilled water (bottled water is okay)

1 tablespoon vodka

cloth for straining

Once you've gathered those items, here's what you need to do.

First, put your cup of water into a saucepan and heat until it comes to a healthy boil! While you're waiting on your water to boil, place the lavender leaves into a heat-proof bowl. Once your water is ready to go, pour it over the lavender.

Let the mixture sit until it cools down. You can place it in the refrigerator to hurry up the process! After it's completely cooled down it's time to strain. Do this by pouring the lavender water into a jar. Place a piece of cloth (cheesecloth or muslin is best) over the jar and pour the liquid into your bowl again.

Next, add the vodka and rosewater. Shake well and place into a recycled mouthwash container or another container you purchased. After brushing your teeth, swig the mixture and swish it around in your mouth for 1 minute. Spit out. Do not ingest.

Good luck! Check out my other DIY recipes!
