Olive Oil Treatment
What's it for?: Dry hair
Olive oil is a great product to use on your hair, especially if you're in need in a great moisturizer. Here's what you need to do:
First, heat 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil (any brand will work) in a coffee mug so that it is warm. Be careful not to get the oil too hot because it will burn your scalp. If you happen to overheat the oil, just let it sit for a while so that it cools down.
Next, apply the olive oil onto your dry hair. You can do this with your fingers or with a comb. If you use a comb, dip it into the mug and comb through your hair. Focus on the ends of your hair which tends to be the driest. It's okay to put the oil at the roots but be careful not to put too much. The scalp is naturally oily.
Once the oil is applied place a shower cap over your head. Make sure all your hair is inside the shower cap and then hop in the shower with the cap on. Go ahead and wash your body while you wait. The steamy air helps your hair absorb the olive oil better.
Approximately 5 minutes later, take the cap off and apply shampoo (notice that you shampoo before you rinse). Massage the shampoo into your hair and rinse. Repeat the process if there is still residual olive oil in your hair. You may need to shampoo several times.
Once you've finished shampooing, you're good to go! There is no need to moisturize with conditioner since the olive oil has already done that for you!
Aspirin Face Mask
What's it for?: To clear up/avoid acne
This is a great home remedy for skin types that are oily and prone to acne. It exfoliates, cleans pores and reduces shine and blemishes. Here's what you need to do:
First, break 6 (uncoated) aspirin in half and place inside of a small cup. This can be a mug, a Dixie cup, whatever.
Next, add a teaspoon of very hot water. Use a toothpick or something small to mash the aspirin up and help it dissolve. If you have a hard time getting it to dissolve, try using hotter water and continue to add one drop of water at a time. The finished product should look like a thick white paste.
After the aspirin and water are fully blended and consistent in texture, apply the mixture to your face. Spread it on thickly and let it sit for about 15 minutes. You will know that it's ready to rinse if off when bits of the white powder start to fall off your face.
Once the mask is completely dried, it's time to wash it off! Do so with tepid water. Gently massage your skin with the water as you rinse it off - this helps to exfoliate. After all the aspirin is removed from your face, pat dry and take a look in the mirror!

Ooh - I'll have to give alka selzters a test drive. The aspirin mask is really easy so I like it. It's one of the most popular DIY face treatments around! Glad you liked the article! :)
I know of someone who uses alka seltzer instead of aspirin and claims that it works even better than aspirin does. Definitely something to inquire more about. Great article, BTW. :o)
