DIY Birthday Party Invitations for Boys

If your son has an upcoming birthday then the first step to planning a party is to get and distribute birthday party invitations. One of my favorite routes for birthday party invitations for boys is the DIY route; not only do you save money but you have a lot more flexibility in terms of design and text. Here is a great method for DIY birthday party invitations for boys.

The first thing that you should do is try to bear in mind the theme of the birthday party, if applicable. You can go with a cut-out invitation in the shape of a themed character or object. You can also simply elect to use a color scheme, certain font or simple illustrations that align with the birthday party's theme.

One of the biggest tips to bear in mind is that you can do this on your computer and make a template then print off the needed number of copies and fill in the individual child's name by hand. This gives the appearance that the cards are each hand made while simultaneously saving you quite a bit of time. If you are doing this the old fashioned way you can apply the same principle by photocopying and then filling in personal details by hand.

The most recent DIY birthday party invitation I mailed out for my boy was for a dinosaur themed birthday party. I simply traced a T-Rex dinosaur and filled in the standard date, time and 'you're invited' message. I then made copies on various colors of construction paper and filled in each invited child's name by hand. If you have a small guest list or a bit of extra time you can even take it a step further and include a personalized message to each child from T-Rex himself; of course this probably depends largely on the age of the boys as well.

Another thing to bear in mind is the overall shape of the card, you can save additional time and money by making your card foldable so that you can place the address and stamp on the outside and avoid envelopes altogether if you mailing out your DIY birthday party invitations. As an example I made my T-Rex birthday cards foldable with the head serving as a sort of hinge. A small piece of tape on the belly kept him all closed up in the mail and I simply placed the mailing address and postage right on the front of the card.

As you can see DIY birthday party invitations are a great way to save money, add a more personal touch and even have some fun with your boy's next birthday.
