DIY Body and Face Cooling Spray

Laura Leiva
After a day in the sun, your skin can take a beating. Whether it has been subjected to hours in the pool and dried out or become a painful sunburn, adding a cooling spray that not only feels great but adds moisture to the skin is essential during the long summer days. While it may take a few days for the sunburn to subside entirely, there is no reason to walk around in pain. DIY body and face cooling spray is easy to make using a few ingredients from your local retail store, and can be used as often as needed to restore moisture into dry or burned skin.

Next time you make a store run, pick up these items for your own cooling spray:

* Aloe vera gel

* Rose water with glycerin (Found in the skin care aisle)

* 8 oz. spray bottle (Found in the travel-sized toiletry aisle)

* Mint leaves (Optional)

To create the cooling spray, add 1 oz. of the aloe vera gel and 2 oz. filtered water to the spray bottle. Shake it to break up the gel. Next, add 2 oz. of the rose water with glycerin to the bottle, and shake again. The rose water will hydrate the skin, while the glycerin locks it in for all-day moisture. If you want an additional cooling sensation, press a few mint leaves between the fingers to bruise them, and toss the leaves into the bottle. This will give your spray a cool, minty smell to use throughout the day.

Spray your body as needed, or use the cooling mist to moisturize and hydrate the skin each morning when you wake up. After spraying your face and body, add your sunscreen to lock in the moisture and protect the skin from further burning.
