If you have a clock that is plain or down right ugly, you can turn it into a charming tea party and roses themed clock for your home. This clock looks especially lovely in a home decorated with country, Victorian or shabby chic accents. The tea party and roses clock also makes a charming accent piece for a little girls room. With some supervision, this is a fun craft project to do with your kids.
Tea Party and Roses Clock
Supplies:
Clock
Mini tea set with floral pattern
Acrylic paint that matches the tea set
Small paint brush
Approximately a dozen dried roses
Glue gun and glue sticks
Newspaper
Paint tape
Ruler
Directions:
1. The clock that I used for this project has a 1 inch wood frame. I find that a wood frame works best if you plan to paint the clock. The color of paint that you choose for the frame should match the colors in the floral patten on the tea set. Cover the face of the clock with newspaper. Place paint tape around the entire inside edge between the frame and face of the clock.
2. Place the clock on a covered work area. Pour a small amount of paint on an old dish. Using a small paint brush, carefully paint the frame front and sides of the clock. Let dry. If the frame isn't made of wood, it may take two coats of paint to completely cover the frame of the clock. If the frame of the clock is already painted, strip the paint. Paint a fresh coat of paint on the clock frame. Once the clock frame is completely painted and dry, remove the tape.
3. Evenly glue the pieces of the tea set around the frame of the clock. Glue the main pieces of the set like the tea pot at the top and bottom of the clock frame. You can use a ruler to measure in between the tea party pieces to make sure they are exactly spaced around the frame of the clock.
4. Glue the dried roses in the spaces between the tea party pieces that are glued around the frame of the clock.
This clock design can also be made in sports themes, holiday themes or made to incorporate a person's profession. So don't throw away those ugly clocks, get busy turning them into clock masterpieces. Theses specially designed clocks also make great personalized gifts for that someone special.
