1) Homemade Garland
Here are the supplies that you will need.
a. Bags of cranberries available at your local supermarket. You will probably need at least five bags but you might need more if you plan on making a large amount of holiday garland.
b. Plain popcorn with no salt or butter.
c. Needle
d. Thread
e. Scissors
You will need to pop your popcorn. Now sit down with your bowls of popcorn and your bags of cranberries. Take a very long length of thread such as five feet long and begin to use your needle to thread the cranberries and the popcorn along the length of the thread. This homemade garland has been used for centuries to decorate homes during the Christmas season. It is cheap and easy and it looks darling.
2) Decorated Pears and Oranges
Here are the supplies that you will need.
a. You will need to head to the craft store to purchase FolkArt Extreme Glitter paint. This comes in plastic tubs. You can also look for other types of glitter paint. I like the kind that you can apply with a brush for this craft.
Here is a link to Joanns online which sells tubs of the glitter paint that I prefer for $6.99 per tub. Purchase green, red, silver, and gold paint.
b. A paint brush to apply the glitter paint.
c. Five pears
d. Five oranges
Sit down at a table and spread out paper so you can keep your workspace clean. Now simply take your fruit and begin to paint them with the glitter paint. The glitter paint makes them look like ornaments made of glass instead of simple pieces of fruit. Once the fruit is dry place it on a lovely silver platter or bowl for a stunning centerpiece on your Christmas party table. Remember to not eat the fruit. Just keep it for a few days and then discard it. It looks very surreal and lovely with soft candlelight around it glinting off the glitter on the fruit.
3) Decorated Holly And Ivy
Here are the supplies that you will need.
a. Holly. You can purchase this at most nurseries during the holidays and some home improvement stores.
b. Ivy. You can also purchase this at most nurseries, and home improvement stores.
c. Spray glitter paint.
Sit down in a well ventilated area and begin to cover the holly and ivy with glitter paint in the spray can. Once this has dried it looks lovely. You can place it in vases, bowls, on the mantel, and throughout the house. It is very ornamental in appearance and looks quite festive. It also seems to last a long time with the glitter spray paint on it.
