DIY Christmas Party Favors

Christmas can be a very hectic time of the year, especially if you are hosting a holiday party. There is no reason why your party favors should be time consuming or expensive. There are a few ways you can create homemade party favors for your Christmas gathering. Below you will find three DIY tutorials for handmade party favors that are perfect for the winter season.

Beverage and Treat in a Mug

Materials

Coffee mug or tea cup
Single serving package of a warm beverage
Packaged treat
Holiday ribbon
Scissors

Your local dollar store carry both mugs and cups, which allows you to stay within a reasonable budget when creating these favors. The idea is for each Christmas favor to include a beverage and a treat. Depending upon your guests, you may want to buy a variety of packaged beverages, such as tea bags, apple cider packets, hot cocoa packets, or single serving bags of coffee. Chocolate truffles are great treats to add with the beverages, any wrapped chocolates will work or peppermint candies are ideal, too. Fill your mugs with the packaged items and tie a piece of the holiday ribbon around the mug.

DIY Crafty Ornament

Materials

Mini stocking
Wooden ornament (plain, holiday themed and undecorated)
2 oz bottles of acrylic paint
Optional: googly eyes, tiny bows, pom poms

These Christmas favors are perfect for your party guests who are crafty! All of the materials needed can be purchased at a dollar store or discounted store. None of the items should cost you over $1 each. The bottles of acrylic paint normally retail for under $1, most stores price them 2 for $1. Choose the flat wooden ornaments shaped like Santa heads, reindeer, Christmas trees, etc. This party favor will include everything someone would need in order to decorate the ornament. Including a small paintbrush is optional, along with any other miscellaneous craft items. Stuff one bottle of acrylic paint, one wooden ornament, and any other small craft item (that would be appropriate in the making of the ornament) into the mini stocking.

Cookie Cutter

Materials

Plastic cookie cutters (2 per guests)
Homemade cookie recipe
Recipe card
Pen
Hole puncher
Holiday ribbon
Scissors

Gather together a few different cookie recipes. You can either handwrite the recipe onto each card or you can type the recipes (using a word program) on your computer, print them out, and glue them onto each recipe card. Leave room in the upper left hand corner to punch a hole with your hole puncher. Cut enough holiday ribbon to string through two plastic cookie cutters and then through the hole in the recipe card, secure it by knotting it and then tie the remainder in a bow.
