Supplies:
- Chalkboard paint
- Paint tape
- Plain glass dishes with wide borders
- Glass accessories (bowls, vases, etc.)
- Chalk
Directions:
- Wash and dry your plates. There are two options when making chalkboard plates. You can paint the border of the plate if you're going to use them for eating plates, or paint the center of the plate if you're using them for decorative use. If you are going to use the plates for eating, cover the center of the plate with paint tape. If you are using the plate for decorative uses, cover the border of the plate with paint tape.
- In a well ventilated room, paint either the border or center of the plate with chalkboard paint.
- Once the paint is dry, remove the tape.
Plate Decorating Tips and Ideas
- If you are having a party, write the guest's name on the border of the plate. The plate is now also being used as a personalized place setting card.
- These plates are a great choice for a kid's birthday party. Using chalkboard plates will keep the kids entertained for hours.
- Paint three plates for decorative use. On one plate write the letter E, on the next plate write the letter A, and on the last plate write the letter T. Hang the plates along a kitchen or dining room wall. Put together, the plates spell the word eat.
- Write your kid's name on a plate, then hang it on their bedroom door.
Chalkboard Vase Place Setting Cards
- The basic supplies are used to make the chalkboard vase. I find using a smooth glass vase works best.
- Tape around the top, inside edge of the vase. Place the vase upside down on a covered work.
- In a well ventilated room, paint the entire outside of the vase with chalkboard paint.
- Once the paint is dry, remove the tape.
These vases are great for weddings or parties. On the front, center of the vase write your guest's name. Place the vase where they will be seated. Fill the vase with fresh flowers. At the end of the event, give each guest their chalkboard vase centerpiece.
Chalkboard plates and accessories will add charm to your home decor, or make great conversational pieces for your next party. Another design I love to make with these chalkboard items are holiday pieces to match my decor. The possibilities are endless.
