Materials To Gather:
Making your own green party invitations is easy. You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. Like anything else eco-friendly, you want to reuse and recycle as much as possible. If you must buy invitations or materials buy stuff that is eco-friendly.
1. The simplest way to start making eco-friendly party invitations is to pull out all the greeting cards, card stock, cereal box, paper bags, etc you have around the house. Put them in a box.
2. Collect loose and unused buttons, ribbons, threads, yarn, used wrapping paper and other craft/scrapbook material leftovers and put them in a box. If you don't have any of these things ask for them on freecycle.
3. Gather seeds, leaves, pine needles etc. from outdoors. Put them in a box too, but where they wont get lost.
4. Grab a few old newspapers and magazines and put them with the rest of the stuff.
5. If you have a computer and printer have recycled printing paper ready to print things on if you decide to use the computer.
Using The Materials:
1. Once you have collected all your potential materials take the materials from step number one, the greeting cards, card stock, cereal boxes, paper bags, etc and cut them into whatever size and shape you desire for the invitations you have in mind. Fold the invites as you please or leave them as is. On one side you can write your invitation greeting on the other side you can decorate with Earth Day themes. If there are no blank spaces on the invitations don't worry about it. You can always paint or cut and paste other pictures or words on the invitations.
2. Next think about what you want to write on your invitation. When is the party? At what time does the party start and end? Where is the party? What is the eco-party theme? It is your party. Tell your guest what its about. Once you know what to write write it down on paper or type it up on the computer, save it and print it out on recycled printing paper when you are ready to put it on the invitation.
3. Look for pictures you want to add to your eco-friendly party invitations. The easiest way is to use the Internet for graphics, fonts and even templates. There are plenty of graphics online, but you can also cut and paste from newspapers or magazines. Obviously look for pictures that relate to Earth Day (leaves, trees, globes, recycling symbols, clean water, landfills, etc). Do a search for free Earth Day clipart/graphics online.
Invitation Earth Day Themes Ideas:
1. Use the seeds you gathered and paste the seeds onto your invite to form the words "Earth Day Party!" Below the words or on the other side of the invitation write your greeting and party information with an eco-friendly pen.
2. How about adding some Earth Day Trivia to your invite? Turn the Earth Day Trivia into a game at the party. The guest who knows the right answer to the trivia on their invite wins an eco-friendly prize. For Trivia go here.
3. Earth Day and National Poetry Month are both in April so write an Earth Day poem. Print it on recycled paper and paste it to a recycled greeting card
4. Decorate your reused greeting card with homemade stamps with Earth Day themes. To make stamps grab a potato and follow the directions at Ehow.com.
If you have your concerns about your crafting skills or don't have time to hand make your own green invitations send your guests an Evite instead from Evite.com. This is an extremely easy and eco-friendly way to invite people to your Earth Day party. All you have to do is select the Evite theme and picture. Click on it. Then fill in the information and press send. If you have quests without Internet service you can print up the invitation (on recycled paper please) and hand deliver or mail the invitation.
