Citrus fruits are commonly used to cleanse and refresh the skin. One of the more sought after ingredients in facial cleansers and other skin products, is the grapefruit. It's no wonder, because the grapefruit is full of goodies that make it great for your skin. Grapefruits have lots of vitamin C, and also have a good amount of calcium. They're a great natural cleanser, and they're a natural antioxidant. Grapefruit and grapefruit seed extract are used in many of today's top beauty products, mainly facial scrubs, masks, and washes.

You can make your own all-natural and effective face wash right at home using fresh grapefruit and plain sugar. The entire grapefruit, peel and all, can be easily prepared to use in this face wash by cutting it into smaller pieces and putting it in your food processor or blender. (If there are too many big pieces of peel but mixing any more would give you too much of a liquid consistency, simply pick the bigger pieces of peel out. This only happens in older blenders.)

Blend until you get a pasty consistency, and then scrape the pasty mush into a medium sized bowl. Add a teaspoon of regular white sugar and mix into the paste with your fingers. If the mixture isn't grainy enough to exfoliate properly, simply add sugar by the pinch until it gets as gritty as you need it to be. If you have recurring problems with blotchy skin or an uneven skin tone, add an egg white to the mixture and mix well.

Using this face wash is easy, simply use it like you would use any cream cleanser, vigorously but carefully rubbing it into your skin. Careful around your eyes - this is a citrus face wash and could burn if you get it in your eyes or in any cuts or scrapes.

After massaging into your skin, rinse well with warm water and dab any extra off with a wet wash cloth. This is a great face wash to use if you have blackheads, sudden bouts of acne, patches of oily or dry skin, or other problems with dirt or blotches. This will even out your skin tone and regulate your skin's condition, giving it a clean, new, and refreshed feeling. The sugar has exfoliated your skin as well, cleaning your pores and ridding your face of dead and loose skin cells!

This is a very safe face wash and you can use it as often as needed.
