To Make a Fabric Cat Bed Pattern You Will Need:
Newsprint
Ruler
Thread
Ewing Machine
Fuzzy Fabric
Pillow Stuffing
Card Board
To get started you want to cut out the following sized pieces from your exterior fabric: 2 pieces of 15X25", 4 pieces of 25 X 6", and 4 Pieces of 6X15".
I recommend using a nice sturdy fabric for the exterior fabric, like canvas or some upholstery fabric.
For the cushion you will need two pieces of 15X24" inch fabric. Choose a nice fuzzy fabric for this, like fleece or an old afghan.
Finally, you will need to cut out pieces of foam core board or cardboard cut to 14X24" inches,
From Heavy weight fusible interfacing cut 2 cut to 24X5", and finally, 2 cut to 5X14" inches.
Now, on to assembling the free cat bed pattern.
Iron the heavy fusible interfacing to the coordinating pieces of exterior fabric in the same size.
Take one of the large 15X24" pieces exterior fabric and lay it pattern side u on the table.
Take 2 pieces of exterior fabric with the interfacing ironed (a 6X25" inch piece) and 2 6X15" pieces and pin them together in a rectangle, pinning the ends together only. Sew each end to form the open rectangle.
Take the laid out piece of exterior fabric and pin it into the bottom of the rectangle you just made. Have the fabrics all facing in.
Now, Repeat this same step with the remaining half of the same sized pieces of exterior fabric. The only difference is these will not have the interfacing ironed to them.
Now, take the top of each of the open rectangles and fold the cut edge down ½ inch and iron flat.
Take the rectangle with the interfacing and turn it pattern side out. Poke out the corners with your scissors.
Place the cardboard or foam core board in the bottom of the cat bed pattern.
Place the other rectangle of fabric, pattern side in and set it down into the interfaced rectangle.
Pin the top folded edges together. Sew these together with a 3/8ths inch seam allowance.
Finally, sew the pillow for the cat bed pattern by laying one piece of fabric face up on the table. Top off with the other pillow fabric face down. Sew three sides together with a ½ inch seam allowance. Turn inside out.
Fill with pillow stuffing to make as fluffy as you cat would like in their bed.
Fold the opening shut to conceal rough edges and sew shut. Place the pillow down in the cat bed an you are finished.
