These Frosty the Snowman ornaments cost approximately $5 each to make. You will need to spend more than $5 when shopping as the ornaments come in packs of 4 or more. I've listed my actual purchase price in parentheses for each item in the supply list below.
Supply List for Frosty the Snowman Christmas Ornaments
Pack of 4 medium round glass ornaments ($6)
Felt hat ($1.50)
Scribbles Black 3D Paint ($2)
Scribbles Orange 3D Paint ($2)
White craft paint ($2)
Soft Snow Twinkle Flakes ($2)
Spool of red ribbon ($2)
Glue or hot glue gun (had at home)
Scissors (had at home)
Craft paintbrush (had at home)
How to Make Frosty the Snowman Christmas Ornaments
1. Remove the ornament top carefully.
2. Fill the ornament to your desired level with the twinkle snow flakes. In the photo example, we filled our snowman about ½ way. Hint: Use a funnel to add the flakes quickly and with less mess.
3. Replace the ornament top.
4. Use a small paint brush to apply white craft paint to the black felt hat. This white paint is used to create the illusion of snow. You may need to apply several coats. Allow to dry between each coat.
5. Cut a length of red ribbon to use as the ornament hanger.
6. Cut a small slit in the top of the black felt hat.
7. Loop the red ribbon through the ornament top. Knot the red ribbon at the top.
8. Pull the knot through the slit in the felt hat.
9. Use the glue gun to fasten Frosty's hat securely to the top of the ornament.
10. Use the black 3D paint to create 2 eyes.
11. Use the black 3D paint to create a dotted smile.
12. Use the orange 3D paint to create a carrot nose.
13. Allow the paint to dry completely.
14. If desired, use the paint to write your child's name and date on the back of the ornament.
Frosty the Snowman Ornament Embellishment Ideas
1. Use a button for the carrot nose instead of orange paint.
2. Use plaid ribbon to give Frosty a scarf.
3. Add a small bird to Frosty's hat.
4. Use silver sparkle paint to add dots around the ornament.
5. Use a square ornament instead of a round ornament for a unique look.

Post a CommentAdorable idea. My sister collects snowmen so this is perfect for a gift.
Karen - good question! I picked up the supplies at a local craft store (Michael's). Sometimes the felt hats are in the Christmas crafts display area and sometimes in the doll making aisle.
