However, if you learn how to cut crown molding properly, you will no longer have to worry about doing it wrong.

There are numerous tools that will make it much easier for you to be able to cut crown molding. Not all of these tools are as useful as they claim to be though. Nevertheless, they do manage to make the job a lot easier than it use to be.

The first thing that you will need to do, before you ever begin to cut crown molding, it to take a tape measure and check out the length of the wall where you plan to install the crown molding at. You will also want to measure the height between any doorways and the ceiling. This will help you to make sure that you have enough length to be able to cover the room without the boards' width being too much for the amount of space that is available.

You will also need to know the angle of your corners in order to be able to cut crown molding properly. To measure this you will need a 360° adjustable protractor.

Once you have these measurements, you are ready to use a compound miter saw to cut crown molding. Lay the molding face up and set the blade tilt to zero and the appropriate angle. Now you simply need to cut crown molding and hang it.

Whenever you cut crown molding you will want to make sure that all of your pieces are identical and that they fit properly before installing them. If you have to cut crown molding to install on a sloped ceiling, then make sure that you measure the ceiling's slope and subtract that from your angle.

It really isn't all that difficult to cut crown molding if you follow these aforementioned steps and apply the aforementioned tips. Whenever you learn how to work with crown molding, you will have found an easy home improvement project that will not only make your home a more enjoyable place to live but also raise its value too.
