DIY Halloween Costumes 2010: (Group Of) N.Y. Candidates
New York Candidate Halloween Costume Ideas, Hit of the Party!
Andrew Cuomo, the Democrat who agrees with the rent being too high and supports gay marriage, entered in a polished smooth appeal, as if a teleprompter was playing inside of his lazy eye to keep topics flowing evenly. No one is sure who called who first as to what outfit candidates would be wearing. Cuomo dressed a carbon copy of Carl Paladino, with only one difference.
What to wear? Dark gray suit, red tie (why not blue?), white button down, and do not forget to match the socks with tie or to keep suit buttoned. Cuomo's hair is short medium to dark gray as wigs can be found at local costume stores. Find the one that matches.
Words to identify: "I know this state like nobody else, nobody else I tell you, not the guys on stage, not the President, no one! I am the democratic King of New York (that likes dressing in Republican colors)!" "Fraud is fraud, unless it's "small" fraud."
Carl Paladino, fist raising passionate Republican voice ready to save New York from gay marriage, again, wore the same outfit as Cuomo. The difference is that Carl's suit jacket is not buttoned. Carl's hair is gray/white so applying some hair-safe white powder is not out of the question if you can't score a gray/white wig.
Words to identify: "Our government doesn't need a tweeking, it needs a major overhaul. Let's overhaul and create a gay tax so high it could turn a gay straight."
Jimmy McMillan may have creamed the competition with his "rent is too damn high" pitch with a realistic view of a growling stomach, but as it may, his emotional determination (Best Political Drama Award) drowns out other sounds, even a child's stomach growl. That opens the door for a Halloween costume.
What to wear? Black or dark gray suit, matching gloves, tie with same color mixed into any thick swirl design, a white button down long sleeve shirt, white fake beard you can brush then split to each side creating two sides, fake beard you can stretch and attach above the ears, square glasses (lens or lens-free), and a balding medium long white/silver wig. For a prop use water bottles, bring lots of them. Don't open them, just let them sit near you on tables or ledges.
Words to identify: "Rent is too damn high!" "Listen. Did you hear it? Some child's stomach just growled!" Don't forget to exaggerate - sometimes that brings each character to life.
Warren Redlich, Libertarian and story debunker, debunks false gossip because he's got a squeaky clean record (?). According to the N.Y. debate (YouTube/AP News 12) and Mr. Redlich himself, he has never been convicted of a crime. Yet another start to Redlich, the "do good" Halloween costume idea.
What to wear? Dark gray suit (unbuttoned), white long sleeve button down, red and pink paisley tie, short black receding hairline wig, and round framed glasses.
Words to identify: "I'm not your typical New York politician. Just ask God, he's never caught me lying." Always talk about how you never do anything wrong, even when you might do something wrong. Remember, don't go overboard on this one - that is if you want to appear like an (harp entry) angel.
Kirsten Davis, former madame and anti-prohibition candidate, a slight cross between Jennifer Coolidge and "CoCo" Austin (Ice-T's wife) with a buzzed Sandra Bullock appeal. When during the debate Davis mentions of how the career politicians in Albany "are whores" and what better person than a madame to organize them? Need we say more. A Halloween costume opportunity just opened up.
What to wear? Black suit with low collar, white low-cut fluff collar blouse, large necklace (fake gold), long blond wig (spray a gloss on it to give it that Barbie sheen), and add some blush and flesh colored gloss lipstick.
Words to identify: "Albany is run by a bunch of whores! Let me at 'em."
Charles Barron, Mr. Freedom Party Candidate and former Black Panther, spins a new angle taking on Cuomo and Paladino by suggesting that asking the two candidates to end corruption is like asking an arsonist to put out a fire.
What to wear? Black or dark gray non-collared button suit, a round gold pin the size of a quarter (for left chest area), and a light gray/white balding wig would define Barron's debate appearance.
Words to identify: "Asking Cuomo and Paladino to end corruption is like asking an arsonist to put out a fire, like asking ... (fill in your own)."
Quite a night for New York during that debate. Watch clips and snips through AP's Youtube edition.
Happy Halloween!
