A major enjoyment during holiday seasons is the opportunity to festively decorate your home with crafts and holiday items that will really bring out the spirit of the season. Although most common during the Christmas season, decorative wreaths make a lovely decor item for Halloween as well. With a few colorful trash bags, a wire clothes hanger and additional decorative features of your choice, you can enjoy creating an artistic Halloween craft that is also eco-friendly.

The first consideration before you construct your wreath is your intended design. For instance, you could create an orange wreath accented with black bows or a wreath that has variations of orange and black, accented with creepy crawly spiders and webs. For this specific craft you will be creating the varying black and orange wreath.

You Will Need:

-orange trash bags

-black trash bags

-plastic spiders

-cotton "spider web"

-one wire hanger

-scissors

Directions:

-Stretch your wire hanger, bending until it resembles a circular shape with the original hook still in its place.

-Cut your trash bags into strips measuring approximately 4 inches long by 1 inch wide. Once you have the desired amount of strips, arrange them into separate color categories in order to make your efforts simplified. Keep in mind that you may need additional trash bags so it would be handy to have some extra ones, as the amount that you use will vary depending on how you construct your holiday wreath.

-Alternating in colors from orange to black, tie your colored strips to the circular area of your hanger. Do this by tying a single knot in the center of each strip. After tying, you should have approximately two inches on either side of the knot. You can alternate this pattern between a single orange strip followed by a single black strip and so on, or you can opt for varying patterns such as 25 orange strips followed by 10 black. Regardless of how you choose to do it, the entire point of this craft is to make it your own using your own individual inspirations.

-After attaching each colorlful strip to your hanger, push the strips tightly together and continue this pattern around the entire circular area of your hanger. Once you have finished covering the hanger with your trash bag strips your craft will have turned into a lovely wreath.

-Using the twist ties from your trash bags, secure the plastic spiders to the wreath and decorate it accordingly to your preferences with the cotton spider web. When you have finished, you'll have a spooky new addition to your Halloween decor.

Who says a wreath has to be independently used during the Christmas holidays? This simple craft is perfect in different color variations to accent your home regardless of which holiday season is upon you.
