Budget Friendly Halloween or Fall Crafts

Pumpkin Carving

First, and foremost, one of the most celebrated crafts during Halloween is pumpkin carving. This is a great DIY Halloween Craft with the kids. It's easy and everyone will have a ton of fun being together while you create fabulous outside pumpkins.

If you are budgeting your money, no doubt getting your pumpkin at a deal is the best option. Stores like Wal-Mart have their pumpkins under $5, and they aren't small pumpkins either. Or you could check for local pumpkin patches to get larger pumpkins at a great deal. Either way, check around before you pay for the pumpkins. It could be a life-savor.

Whether you decide to actually carve out the pumpkin or use magic markers let the kids decide how they want to decorate their pumpkins. Halloween can be enjoyed by the entire family, whether you celebrate Halloween or not.

What you need:

Apples

Bag of caramels

Directions:

Bring a pot of water to boil. Place a glass bowl on top of the pot. Now you want to add your caramels to the glass bowl with about a teaspoon of water. Stir constantly until your caramels are melted completely. I like to cut up apples so they are easier to dip in the caramel. Dip your apple strips and set them aside to dry.

Facts about Scarecrow's

Did you know that farmers still use Scarecrow's to scare away crows to protect their crops? The custom was created to protect the cornfields rather than actually scarring the crows. But farmer's quickly realized that these scarecrows did, in fact, scare the crows away.

What you need:

1 small broom

1 bead (wooden is fine)

I small pumpkin

Tacky Glue

Hanger or fishing line

Autumn ribbon for scarf

Fall Felt pieces

Hair Fluff or yarn

Face paint

Mini bird

Straw hat

Directions:

This scarecrow craft is very easy to create. First you want to carve out the mini pumpkin as this is the scarecrow's head. Give the pumpkin eyes, face, mouth, as well as cutting out the neck. This is where the broom will sit. Now sit the small pumpkin on the broom and secure with tacky glue.

Now use a large pillow case that is stuffed and place the broom inside the pillowcase. This will be the body of the scarecrow. You can mush and push around till you get the body of the scarecrow the way you want it. Use the yarn to make a belt at the scarecrow's waist to separate the upper body from the lower body. Now place the straw hat on top of the pumpkin and secure with tacky glue. Add the bird on top of the straw hat and secure with tacky glue. Now that your scarecrow is created, you want to secure. Lean this scarecrow up against a wall for best results.
