DIY Money/Card Box for a Green Colored Wedding

Learn How to Create a Card/money Box for Your Wedding

One of the most exciting parts of a wedding for the bride and groom is the gifts! This is tutorial for how to make a card or money box to grace your wedding's gift table. This box will add to your wedding décor by using the color green and will also help you collect all of the cards and money envelopes that you will hopefully receive!

Materials list:

Box: Any box will work. You can use a shoe box and cover the whole box in scrapbook paper or even coordinating gift wrap. Depending on the boxes material, you could spray paint it whatever color you would like. I used a media box from IKEA. I like that it's sturdy and a size that will hold most sized envelopes.

Paper: Paper to cover the box. Preferably green

Modge Podge: This is glue like substance that you brush on. This will "paste" the paper to the box and give it a protective coating and a nice finish if you choose the glossy formula.

Ribbon: Ribbon is a great and inexpensive way to bring your wedding color into any wedding decoration. Ribbon is romantic and highly decorative.

Decorations: I choose a 3 inch metal J for the couple's last name. You can purchase wooden letters that are about the same size for around $1.00 at any craft store. You could leave the letter natural or paint it to match your wedding décor.

Duration of crafting: approx 1 hour. Allow more time for drying if you are using modge podge.

Instructions:

1. I covered the box lid with a piece of scrapbook paper. I taped the paper on but you can use modge podge to affix the paper on to the box. Cover the rest of the box if you want to.

2. After the box lid is dry, loosely tie the ribbon around the box lid. Leave the bow loose, glue or tape the ribbon to the bottom of the box. This will allow you to close the box all of the way.

3. Once the ribbon is attached to the underside of the lid, tie an attractive bow. This is a lot easier if you use wired ribbon. Once you tie the bow, fluff it and make it how you want.

4. At this point, I attached the "J" to the center of the bow by tying the string that the J came on to the center of the bow.

Your money/card box is now ready to be placed on your present table!
