Stepping stones can really add a sense of naturalistic fun to an already beautiful garden oasis. Not only will a stepping stone create a pathway into the garden that will prevent trampling on plants it also creates a look that is unique and fun. Mosaic tile garden stepping stones are easy to create and they are the perfect addition to the garden. You can make all sorts of mosaic garden stepping stones that will coordinate with the plants around them or stand out above the rest. Either way, these DIY mosaic tile garden stepping stones are perfect!

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Materials:

Thin Set

Trowel

Grout Float

Grout Sponge

Large Plastic Cup

Tile Grout

Round Pavers

Various Tiles in all shapes and sizes (small chipped and broken pieces work best!)

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 1: Begin by rinsing the garden paver off with water. There should not be any major chunks of dirt left behind. The garden paver should also be wet so that the thin set has a good base to adhere to.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 2: Using the thin set, begin placing a layer onto the round paver on the top portion. This is where the mosaic will be created. Use a trowel to spread the thin set on in a thin layer.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 3: Using the broken pieces of tile begin creating a picture on the garden stepping stone. You can opt for pictures of flowers, rainbows, leaves, or even some cute sayings for the stones. You could even make some "welcome to my garden" stepping stones for this project. The options are as endless as the plant options for the garden itself.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 4: Complete the picture on the round paver and use as much space as you can. You do not have to fill every teeny tiny space as some added space in between the tiles is perfect for the grout to fill.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 5: Allow the thin set and the tiles to stand overnight so that the entire round paver is dry.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 6: Using sanded grout, mix grout with water to create a semi thick milk shake like mixture. You could make this in a small bucket or even a large plastic cup would work well (such as a cup you would get from a fast food restaurant)

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 7: Pour the grout mixture all over the top of the round paver and the tiles that you placed onto the paver. The grout will be a bit runny but it should be semi thick as well and not really watery.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 8: Using a grout float, rub the grout into all of the cracks in between the tiles on the round paver. There should be grout all over all of the tiles and in all of the open spaces.

Mosaic Tile Garden Stepping Stones Step 9: Allow the grout to set for about 20 minutes and then use a wet tile sponge to wipe the tiles clean. This will remove any excess grout from the mosaic tile stepping stones making them ready for the garden. Allow them to set over night and then place them in your desired areas of the garden!
