Pink and brown is a trendy color combination. It's a fun and flirty combination that's both masculine and feminine. I used brown faux hydrangeas. Faux Hydrangeas in natural colors look the most natural. They are also very full and can make bouquet seem very lush with a few stems. Using brown hydrangeas would be very striking against a white bridal gown or pink bridesmaid dresses. If using fresh flowers, I would reverse the colors on the flowers and the ribbon. I would use pink roses, with a wide brown satin ribbon.

Time to make: ½ an hour, this is a simple craft

Materials:

Flowers: For the tutorial I used one stem, for a real bouquet, I would use 4 or 5 for a full and lush bouquet. Each stem costs about $5 depending on the quality and the store. Look for discount coupons in the Sunday paper or look for sales. The more time you give yourself to shop, the more money that you can save.

Ribbon: If you are using brown flowers, Pink needs to be incorporated in the ribbon. I used a 2 inch ribbon in making this bouquet.

Other Supplies and Tools: wire cutters, scissors, rubber bands, hot glue gun, hot gun glue sticks.

Instructions for making the bouquet:

  1. Gather the stems together and bind together with one rubber band. This will help to keep the stems together.
  2. Cut the stems to your desired length with scissors or the wire cutters.
  3. Add a couple more rubber bands to the stems to bind the stems together.
  4. Unroll the ribbon and glue one end to the base. Start rolling the ribbon around the stems. This will wrap the stems and cover up the rubber band and stems.
  5. Keep the ribbon tight as you roll it around. Putting a little of glue on the layers to secure it.
  6. At the top of the stem, cut the ribbon and fold over the edge. Glue it down at the top.
  7. Tie a bow at the top. You can make the tails as long or short as you would like. Long tails are dramatic but short tails can be cute and simple as well.
Store the finished bouquet in a vase or glass so it stays upright. This will ensure that the blooms don't get crushed and the bouquet keeps it shape until the big day.
