WHAT YOU NEED:
1 Large White Styrofoam Ball
1 Medium White Styrofoam Ball
1 Small White Styrofoam Ball
1 Straight 2 Foot Branch/Wooden Dowel (1/4 inch thick)
1 Large Terracotta Pot
4 Blocks Of Green Floral Foam
1 Styrofoam Disc (smaller than the opening of your pot)
1 Bag of Green Moss
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
3 Bags Of Potpourri (scent and color of your choice)
1 Sponge Brush
Blender
1 Large Mixing Bowl
Spray Paint (color of your choice)
White Modge Podge Glue
Start by taking your medium and large Styrofoam balls and inserting your branch in the center of the ball and going all the way through to the other side, then remove and put aside. Next take your small Styrofoam ball and insert your branch in the center only going half way through. As the smallest ball will be the top.
Next take your potpourri and put it in the blender and finely chop. Remove from the blender and put it in your large bowl.
Using your foam brush give each ball a generous coat of Modge Podge, making sure to cover the entire surface. Take the freshly glued balls and roll them into the crushed potpourri. Once again making sure to cover the entire surface with the crushed potpourri. This may get a little messy. Once done put aside on a large piece of wax paper and let dry over night.
In the mean time take your spray paint and give your terracotta pot a good even coating or two.
Now that all is dry its time to assemble. After your glue gun has heated up, take your green floral foam bricks and glue 2 on the bottom of your pot. Now take the last 2 and glue on top of the bottom two. Next take your Styrofoam disc and insert into the pot, giving it a nice coating of hot glue on the sides so it is secured to the terracotta.
Take your 2 foot stick/wooden dowel give it a shot of hot glue on the bottom and insert it into the center of the Styrofoam disc while firmly pushing it down into the floral foam. Hot glue the stick/wooden dowel a few times around the top of the disc where it was centered. This will assure stability. Hot glue your green moss on top of the disc, being sure to cover all visible white spots of the disc.
Starting with the largest ball insert hot glue in the opening you made and insert it on the stick making sure not to go all the way down. Add a little hot glue around the bottom and top. Follow this step for the next, which is the medium sized ball. Space them out evenly. For the smallest add hot glue in the opening at the bottom and pop on top with out going all the way through.
There you have it........A scented potpourri topiary tree. Enjoy!
