The first step is to completely clear off your kitchen counter.

Now, use ammonia based cleaner to completely and thoroughly clean the surface.

Now, let this dry and you can start recovering your existing kitchen counter.

Next, use your tin snips to cut your vintage tin pieces into different sizes.

Now, use your tacks to attach them to the kitchen Counter. You can randomly place the vintage tin pieces, over lap them, or even space them out.

All you do is lay out your piece of tin. Place a tac in the corner and hammer it down. Now repeat this in each of the four corners.
