Resin Jewelry is made from the mixture of a liquid plastic called 'Casting Resin' which is a crystal clear low viscosity liquid and a catalyst which when added makes the plastic liquid into solid plastic. The mixture is poured into a bezel or mould. Bezel is a basic base used by many DIY jeweller makers. Whereas many prefer moulds they can be rubber moulds, silicone or plaster. Many people make their own moulds. There are a variety of moulds available in different sizes and shapes. Some are very large and others are small. Choose the one that suits your need the most. The whole process of making a DIY Resin Jewelry project is described below;

If you are new to the resin Jewelry making then it is suggested that you should buy Resin Jewelry making kit. It is easy to start your first Jewelry making project while using a kit because you would have everything that you need to complete the Jewelry piece. The resin Jewelry making kit would include; resin, mould and any other accessories that you would need to make a complete piece of Jewelry It will also include step by step instructions as well.

Firstly you would need to cast Resin. Take a mould of your desired size and shape and mix the casting Resin and Catalyst. Follow the instructions provided with your resin Jewelry making kit to avoid any mishaps. This is the most important step of the resin Jewelry making process because if you don't add the mixture according to the instruction it can totally ruin your Jewelry piece.

You can add different colours or small pieces of toys, glitter or pearls during the casting process. Choose colours of your choice to give the Jewelry piece a trendy and flashy look try to use vibrant colours.

Make sure that there are no bubbles on the surface. Use a toothpick or any other tool to avoid build up of air bubbles. Because the formation of air bubbles would destroy the appearance and look of the project completely.

Let the Resin project dry for almost 24 hours and then take it out of the mould. Make sure that the casting resin is completely dry and rock hard. If it is rock hard then it indicates that the casting process is done excellently

If you want to drill holes in your resin Jewelry project, try using a hand drill machine and mark the hole first before drilling to avoid making marks on the Jewelry surface.
