DIY Romantic Christmas Cards Using MS Word
Two Easy DIY Romantic Christmas Cards to Send to Friends and Family
A Lyrical Romantic Christmas Card
For this first homemade romantic Christmas card I used two songs to convey a romantic mood that would not be awkward for you to send to family and friends. For the front of this homemade romantic Christmas card I used a variation of the Christmas song All I Want for Christmas Is You and the inside message of the card was adapted from Donny Hathaway's This Christmas. This template can be found on Microsoft Office's Template Gallery and it is made by Avery Dennison. The template used is the Christmas Card template that works with Avery 3251 and 3265 card stock.
This template for your homemade romantic Christmas card is for a two-fold card and appears as a two page document with your work area at the bottom half of each page. Starting at page one of your romantic Christmas card, delete both the picture and text boxes. Go to the Clip Art Gallery online or open the Clip Art Gallery from the "Insert" tab if you use MS Office 2007. Type the word "mistletoe" in the search field. Pictures of mistletoe and couples kissing under the mistletoe will be displayed.
For this romantic Christmas card I chose three pictures of couples kissing under the mistletoe. I placed one couple in the bottom left corner, another couple at the bottom right corner and one in the center of the work area. In order to move your pictures around you will need to send each individual picture to the front by clicking on the image and selecting "Text Wrapping" from your picture/draw menu then select "In Front of Text" from the dropdown submenu.
Next, I drew a text box the same size as the romantic Christmas card's work area. You can use any font and type face you wish, just make sure it conveys a romantic feeling and that the font is large enough to be easily read. I then wrote my cover text which reads "All I Want For Christmas Is For You ..." the first five words are on the first line of the text box, hit the "Enter" key until the last three words fall below the center picture. I then filled in the background of the text box with a shade of red and outlined it with a thick triple line in a golden yellow. Finally, I changed the color of my text to the same golden yellow used to outline the text box.
Move down to page two of the romantic Christmas card to change the text. There will already be two text boxes present for you to create your romantic holiday card message. In the first text box delete the text already in it and replace it with "To hang all the mistletoe, so you can get to know each other a little better this Christmas." For the second text box, again delete the previous text and replace it with "Have a Happy Christmas Filled With Romance."
A Cute Romantic Holiday Card
This romantic Christmas card also uses the same Christmas card template as the first homemade romantic holiday card. Delete the picture and text boxes on page one just as. I chose to use the Christmas anime pictures on Clip Art for this romantic holiday card. In Clip Art's online gallery search for "anime" and look for the pictures of female characters in Santa hats. Any of these characters will work, for my homemade romantic Christmas card I chose the anime female sitting next to the Christmas tree.
Next, bring the picture to the front by using the same method from the first romantic holiday card. Center the picture within the work area. Create a text box the same way as instructed for the first romantic Christmas card. You can choose to not fill the text box with color or choose a color that compliments the picture you selected. In the text box type "A Christmas Wish For You", in the color, font and type face of your choosing.
For the second page of the homemade romantic Christmas card, you can either keep the mistletoe pictures or change them. I chose to change the mistletoe pictures and replace them with the anime Clip Art picture of the female in the Santa suit holding a present. The original text of the template will be replaced to read "May this holiday season shower you with enough romance and love to last a lifetime." The second text box message is replaced by "Merry Christmas from the Romance Fairy", if the homemade romantic Christmas card is being sent by a couple, then change "Fairy" to "Fairies". This romantic holiday card will surely bring a smile to the faces of family and friends. Don't be surprised if a few "Romance Fairy" jokes follow.
Homemade Romantic Christmas Cards TipsMaking romantic Christmas cards to send to family and friends can be fun. Couples sometimes need encouragement from others to take time out and rekindle their romance. A romantic Christmas card is a non-invasive way of doing this. Keep the mood of the romantic Christmas card light, play around with popular slang or contemporary Christmas songs. Create humorous messages for your romantic Christmas cards such as "The Romance Fairy and H-Town want you to get back that loving feeling by knockin' boots for Christmas". Just make sure your humorous references are used for friends and family with the same sense of humor. Happy romantic holiday card making!
