DIY Super Chic Christmas Party Invitations

Why buy mass-produced invitations for your upcoming holiday party when you could make your own? Chances are they'll be much more unique than anything you purchase in the stores and they'll be distinctly you!

Here's a step by step guide to making some fabulous Christmas party invitations! First, gather the following materials:

8.5" x 11" card stock paper (choose a solid paper in the color of your choice)

2 different decorative papers that are similar in color and match your card stock paper.

satin ribbon (that matches the card stock paper as well)

glue stick or hot glue gun

adhesive runner

Now that you've gathered your supplies, here's what you need to do.

Step Uno: Cut the solid-colored card stock in half so that each piece measures 4 1/4" width and 11" length. (They will be folded so they open up and down, not horizontally).

Step Dos: Figure out what you want your invitations to say. Once you know what you need to write, you may do so! (You can also create the text by using a software program on your computer or by using a simple word processor but I find this overly complicated and not as fun!). I prefer handwriting the invitations because it makes them more personalized and it's also easier to align all the writing and whatnot. You can use letter stamps (always cute), nice stickers or a simple pen!

*Leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top without text.

Step Tres: Now we're going to add the decorative paper you chose out. The front of the card will display both of the decorative papers. Choose which design you want to display most of and then cut to the following dimensions: 4.25" width by 4" length. This paper will go on the bottom part of your card.

The other decorative paper will go on the top and should be cut to these dimensions: .25" width by 1.5" length.

Step Quatro: Apply a thin layer of glue to the back of the smaller-sized decorative paper. Place it carefully on the top part of another piece of solid-colored card stock (that has been cut to the appropriate dimensions).

Step Cinco: Repeat step four, only this time you'll use the other decorative paper (the bigger sized one). Apply it to the bottom part of the pre-cut card stock paper.

Step Seis: Once the glue has dried, fold the card stock where the two patterns meet. (Place the paper design-up on the table. Fold it up toward your face.) Now glue the top part of the card stock onto the card stock that has the text on it. You can use an adhesive runner for this. Make sure it is safely secured and won't come unglued!

Step Siete: You should see that your card is pretty much finished! Now it's time to add some pizazz! Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to go around the card (horizontally) and tie a bow at the front. Wrap the ribbon around the top of the card - it should run along the edge of where the two designs meet. Now tie it into a pretty bow!

Excellent job! Don't forget to post pictures for me to see!
