Votive Holder 14cm by 12cm
Heavy Weight Cardstock
Sewing Machine
Thread that Matches the Cardstock
Craft Knife
Stencils
Pencil
Ruler
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 1: Begin by cutting a piece of cardstock into a strip that is 15 cm high and a length that will wrap all the way around the votive holder one time plus one cm.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 2: Using the ruler, measure one centimeter from the top of the strip and make a line all the way across the strip on the back side. Do this from the bottom as well to create a line along the bottom.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 3: Using the stencil of your choice, trace the stencil on the back side of the cardstock above the line that you created. Make sure that the stencil stays within the two lines that you already drew. The stencil should continue along the entire cardstock strip so that it seems unending.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 4: Using the craft knife, cut out the stencil pattern from the cardstock. This will create the stencil design in a cut out.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 5: Fold the bottom of the cardstock in toward the line that is drawn on the back side. This will create a hem in the candle cover. Do the same for the top where the top line is.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 6: Using the sewing machine, sew the hem on the top and the hem on the bottom of the tea light candle craft.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 7: Now, fold the left end of the strip in about a half centimeter. Using the sewing machine, sew together the right side to the left side with the left side placed on the outer edge.
DIY Tea Light Candle Cover Craft Step 8: Place the candle cover over the votive holder and slide it all the way down so that the bottom touches the bottom of the holder. The tea light candle cover should fit snuggly over the votive holder. When the candle is lit the light will flicker through the stencil pattern on the cover.
