DIY Valentine's Day Surprises

Make it an All Girls Day Instead

Gayle Parks
We all know how men feel about Valentines Day (they hate it) so I propose we forget about men and make it an All Girls Day. Here I have come up with some ideas for DIY Valentine Surprises for your sister, daughter or mom or any and all of your girlfriends. Use your imagination and adapt these ideas to your own personal tastes.

Girls Only Valentine Surprise Dinner and a Movie

This one works well if your sister, daughter and mom all live close by, of course, it would also work with your girlfriends too. Invite them all over to your house without letting on that the others will also be there. As they arrive hand them an oversize ticket (which you have made on your computer) which is good for dinner and a movie. Have the latest Chick Flick available on DVD or Pay Per View and serve a home cooked or home delivered meal. Remember, girls only! Send the guys out to their own movie or banish them upstairs.

Personalized I Love You Basket

By personalized I mean filled with items you know your recipient loves. Include her favorite bath gel or perfume; tuck in a box or bag of her favorite candy or maybe a gift card to her favorite store. Tie it with a big red ribbon and present it to her either in person or have a local courier service deliver it. To make it extra fun include a homemade card with a handwritten verse. Example; Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, This basket is made up just for you!

Homemade Coupons

These are always fun and work best for people who are hard to buy for, a teenage daughter for example. Make up several cute coupons on your computer. Make them good for a predetermined amount of an item. For example one could be good for $10.00 worth of new cosmetics, another good for $50 worth of new clothes, etc. Use your imagination. Place the coupons together in a colorful envelope and place them under her pillow or propped against the mirror. She will be delighted and surprised.

The great thing about these ideas is that you can tailor them to your time frame and your budget. Nothing too fancy here just simple and fun. Valentine's Day is fun, so embrace it and have some fun and forget about the guys. Make it an All Girls Day instead.
