DIY Vegas Style Bridesmaid Bouquets

5 Steps to a Fabulous Vegas Style Bridesmaid Bouquet

Cheryl Engelke
Vegas style weddings are taking their place among wedding themes. Making your own Vegas themed décor is very simple, sometimes even more so than most wedding themes. Vegas style bridesmaid bouquets take very little time to make and you can make them yourself.

There are two things you need to do, before gathering your materials. One is to determine your colors. A Vegas style wedding will always have the base colors of black and white. The only thing you have to choose is a complimentary color. Generally, a Vegas style wedding will have the colors red, black, and white. However, any jewel-toned color, such as green, purple, dark pink, or royal blue, will compliment the black and white.

The second is to determine your flowers. A Vegas style wedding should be classy but simple and your flowers should reflect that. Think roses, gardenias, peonies, hydrangeas, or amaryllis. All supplies needed can be bought at Hobby Lobby (www.hobbylobby.com) or your local craft store.

What You Will Need:

5-7 roses (or flower of your choice) with stems trimmed to about 7-9" long (thorns removed)
Floral tape
Square sequin trim (in silver or gold)
5 black feather picks
5-7 beaded cluster picks
Hot glue gun

Directions:

1. Gather all of your flowers together in your hand.

2. Wrap floral tape firmly around the stems about an inch below the blooms. Wrap stems all the way to about an inch above the end of the stems. Be sure to wrap the stems diagonally.

3. Position the black feather picks on the outside of the stems so the feather is about an inch above the blooms. Be sure to place them evenly around the outside of the flowers. Wrap the feather picks with floral tape to secure.

4. Insert the beaded cluster picks randomly with the blooms to add sparkle to your bouquet.

5. Starting at the bottom of the stem, wrap the floral taped stems with the square sequin trim. Be sure to cover the entire stem, overlapping as needed. Use a dot of hot glue to secure the end of the sequin trim.

Having a Vegas style wedding should radiate glitz and glamour. When you think of Vegas, you have to think about all of Vegas, not just the casinos. You need to think of the Rat Pack and Vegas in the 60's. Think of showgirls and music, glitter and lights, and the red carpet treatment.

Things To Remember:

You can use fresh or faux flowers for this bouquet. Using faux flowers can greatly reduce cost.

If using real flowers and they need to be trimmed, hold them under cool running water and trim at a 45 degree angle.

You can really be creative with a Vegas style wedding so have fun with it and embrace your imagination. Have fun with it!
