DIY (Do it Yourself) Winter Wedding Favors

Not Your Typical Favor

Laura Ewers
Winter weddings can be so very beautiful. Here are the directions to make 3 different wedding favors for your amazing winter wedding. These are ideas that are not as common, to make your wedding stand out. Find the perfect one for your wedding, or combine them to make it fit your dream winter wedding.

1) Hot Chocolate Cups

For this wedding favor you will need the following items:
- Solid colored mug (pick your wedding color or an off white)
- Clear bags that the cocoa mix will fit into
- Hot cocoa mix (either store bought or you can make it yourself with the recipe below)
- Card stock in the wedding color/ or white. (Each bag will require apiece as wide as the bag and 1 to 2 inches tall)

Hot Cocoa Mix (homemade) - this will fill 2 3 ½ x 8 inch bags.
1 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 ¼ cups sugar
3 cups powdered milk
A dash of salt

Mix all ingredients together and then divide into bags. (Remember each cup of hot cocoa will need 3 tbsp of mix)

Place the desired amount of mix inside of each bag and seal. Take a piece of card stock cut as directed above and fold it in half. Then staple it to the top of the bag. (Probably will need 2-3 staples).

Place bag with mix into mug and tie a ribbon around the mug.

* This craft looks really pretty with purple mugs and silver ribbon, navy mugs and red ribbon, black mugs and cream ribbon, ect. Remember to pick nice contrasting colors for the best look.)

2) Christmas Ornament

For this wedding favor you will need the following items:
- Plain solid colored Christmas balls (use your wedding colors, or an off white)
- Then for the lettering either use a permanent maker (black, white or silver works best)
Or you can use a very small paintbrush, glue and fine glitter to paint on the message.

For the message write some like
MR. and Mrs. (last name)
Married (then date)

This is a great favor your guests can keep forever and never forget your wedding.

3) Wedding Cookies

For this wedding favor you will need the following items:
- Cookie cutter (winter shaped or shaped like a bride, groom, or wedding cake)
- Your favorite cookie recipe (sugar cookies work best)
- Ribbon
- Hole punch

Print / write out the cookie recipe on a note card size piece of card stock. You can use your wedding color and write it in black marker.
Then cut a small hole in the card stock at the top left corner and attach the cookie cutter to the recipe card using the ribbon.

* To keep from getting separated or broken you can place the whole thing inside of a clear bag or wrap in tulle.

Congratulations on your wedding and enjoy making these creative favors for your guests.
