Use those bits and pieces of scraps you have been holding on to because you just knew there was a project they would be perfect for. Those scraps, plus a few other odds and ends, will create this adorable yo-yo Easter bunny pin for practically no money.
Things you will need to make the yo-yo bunny pin:
Scrap fabric
Scrap blue jeans
1/4 inch pink pom-pom
White crochet thread
1/8" ribbon
Tiny black snaps
1 inch pin back
Craft glue
Ruler
Scissors
Hand sewing needle and thread
Compass
Lightweight cardboard
Pencil
Steps to make the yo-yo bunny pin:
1. Using the compass, draw a 3 inch circle on the lightweight cardboard. Cut out the circle. This will be the pattern for your yo-yo bunny head.
2. Place the cardboard circle on your fabric and draw around it. Cut out the circle of fabric. Fold the edges of the circle over a 1/4 inch and sew a running stitch around the circles diameter. When you have stitched all the way around the circle, pull and gather the stitches, closing the opening. Knot the ends and clip the thread. Smash the gathered yo-yo flat with the gathered edge in the center of one side. This is your bunny head.
3. Cut two pieces of the scrap blue jean 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" long. To form the ears, round the corners on one short end of the blue jean pieces and taper the ends to a point on the other short ends. Stick the tapered ends of the ears behind the yo-yo a 1/4 inch, separate them by 1/8 inch and slightly angle the top of the ears out. Remove the yo-yo and place dots of craft glue on the tapered ends of the ears. Replace the yo-yo over the ears.
4. Cut two pieces of off white crochet thread 2 inches long. Holding the pieces together, tie a knot in the center. Dab craft glue in the gathered center of the yo-yo. Place the knot of the crochet thread in the glue. Place the 1/4 inch pink pom-pom over the knot and also in the glue.
5. Apply two dabs of glue above the pink pom-pom nose. Place the black snaps in the glue for the eyes.
6. Cut a 12 inch piece of the ribbon. Tie the ribbon into a bow and glue the bow at the bottom of the yo-yo below the nose. Allow the glue to dry.
7. Turn your yo-yo bunny pin over and glue the 1 inch pin back to the back of the bunny head. Allow the glue to dry.
