DJ AM, "Adam Goldstein," Found Dead in Manhattan Apartment, Possibly Due to Drug Overdose

Several minutes ago, TMZ reported DJ AM was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. The talented DJ, whose real name is Adam Michael Goldstein, was only 36 years old.

Ironically, according to Examiner.com, his last tweet on Twitter was:

"New York, New York. Big city of dreams, but everything in New York ain't always what it seems."

It certainly ain't. Or isn't. Sadly, New York police suspect DJ AM's death might be due to a drug overdose since they found prescription pills and drug paraphernalia near the scene, but no conclusive evidence has been found to verify this yet. Unfortunate as this type of death is, it's not uncommon in the music world, as we all know.

You might remember a year ago DJ AM was accompanying Travis Barker while traveling in a Lear jet that crashed in South Carolina. They were the only two individuals to survive the plane crash.

In addition to being one of the U.S's most talented DJ's, Adam Goldstein also dated several Hollywood socialites. Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore are just two of the high-profile celebrities he dated. He was actually engaged to Nicole Richie before they broke off the engagement in 2005.

According to OK! Magazine, New York City police were notified around 5:30 Eastern time. They would not confirm the identity of the victim, nor of the person who called police, who claims to be a friend of DJ AM.

Friends of DJ AM continue to tweet condolences on Twitter. Friend Travis Barker's ex-wife, Playboy model Shanna Moakler, is among those offering sympathy and sharing in the heartbreak.
