DJ AM Found Dead in New York on August 28

DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) Has Died in His New York Apartment; Details Still Coming In

Ryan Christopher DeVault
DJ AM was found dead on Friday afternoon. Though DJ Am was found dead, details aren't being released just yet as to what happened to the music man. There are already rumors swirling that DJ AM overdosed on drugs, and that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, but these rumors have not been confirmed at this time. The facts of the case that have been released so far are just that DJ AM was found dead on Friday afternoon in his own apartment, and that he has passed away at the age of 36. As of 4:30 P.M. Pacific Time, everything else is just rumor.

DJ AM, his real name being Adam Goldstein, is one of the two survivors of a terrible plane crash that took place last year on a take-off. In that plane crash, Goldstein and Blink 182 member Travis Barker were able to escape from a burning plane and survived with only burns and bruises. The plane crash did take the lives of four other people on board though, and it had to be a trying experience that stuck with Goldstein long after he was out of the hospital. That he survived the plane crash just last year and has already been struck down by something else is a tragedy in itself.

Adam Goldstein had recently been working with MTV on a show about addiction, and reports state that he had just finished shooting all eight episodes of the series. In this MTV series, Goldstein was opening up about his own past struggles with substance abuse, and addictions that he had faced in life. It isn't clear whether Goldstein was still struggling to overcome his addictions, but it is clear that the rumor mill thinks that he was still having substance abuse problems. TMZ rumors state that prescription bottles were found near his body, but that has not been confirmed either.

This is a really sad day in the entertainment world, as Adam Goldstein left very suddenly, but the public opinion of this tragedy is sure to be formed very quickly as details of the case start to trickle down. Right now people only have rumors to go off of, but we will keep you updated with any major changes in the story.

Good reporting. Just curious, did you get upfront for this? Just wrote a piece on this and wondering if I should just post it now for PVs or wait a few hours to see if I get upfront...not to sound heartless, but hey, I don't write about these people for my health...

Not to sound callous, but doesn't it seem like, if the rumors are true, he wasted that second chance he got when he walked away from the plane crash?
