DJ Dalton's Review on the Numark Battle Pack
Find Out If the Numark Battle Pack is the Best for DJs or Not
First off, the set came with the following:
1. Two TT1625 Turntables with Numark Groove Tools Cartridges and slipmats
2. DM950 mixer
3. HF125 headphones
The whole set was easy to put together. It only took me 10 minutes to have the whole thing set up and ready to play. I had it hooked up to my computer so I could record my mixes.
The turntables themselves were pretty disappointing. They lacked torque, and the pitch slider was pretty unstable, making beat matching quite hard. When I put my hand down on the record, I couldn't press down much, or else the platter stops spinning. The issue is magnified when I have it set to 45 speed. But they are still better than belt driven turntables in my experience. I don't like the cartridges because they're not good quality. I give the turntables a 6 out of 10.
The mixer was pretty basic. The thing I didn't like about it was that it didn't have a VU meter. I had to rely on my recording software to make the level just right. Another thing I didn't like, although it may have been a defect, was that sometimes when I flick the fader to the left, you can still hear the right record, requiring me to make more adjustments to the position of the slider, making it very frustrating when I try to record my mixes. I give the mixer a 5 out of 10.
The headphones were alright. They were just too bassy, making them only suitable for cuing. The design is good though. They don't break easily. I give those a 7 out of 10.
Overall, I give the whole set a 6 out of 10. The Numark Battle Pack is good for beginner DJs, but once they get better, they will grow out of them. I recommend Technics 1200s for when they get more advanced. I'm still stuck with the Battle Pack though due to my tight budget, but once I get Technics, I will review them here.
