DJ Drama <>i>Gangsta Grillz: The Album Volume 2 Early Album Review
Does the Mixtape King Deliver on Volume 2?
The first single off of Gangsta Grillz: The Album Volume 2 is Day Dreaming featuring Akon, T.I. and Snoop Dogg. The song is a fairly catchy song which did not take off as well as it should have. The track features strong performances from three of the biggest names in hip hop.
A-Town features T.I., Young Dro, Sean Paul of The Youngbloodz and Lonnie Mac. The song is definitely going to be the anthem of Atlanta in the near future.
We Must Be Heard features Ludacris, Busta Rhymes and Willie The Kid. The star of the track is definitely Ludacris who delivers a frenetic verse, not even Busta Rhymes can match his intensity.
Sweat is a collaboration between Ray J, Fabolous and LA The Darkman. The high point of the song is definitely Fabolous' verse. The rest of the song just falls flat.
Rick Ross, Trick Daddy and Mike Jones team up on I'm Fresh. The track features a repetitive chorus and fairly strong verses from all three rappers.
Yacht Music features Nas, Marsha Ambrosius, Scarface and Willie The Kid. The song features strong production and very strong verses from Nas and Scarface. Marsha Ambrosius delivers a strong chorus as well.
The-Dream, LA The Darkman and Too Short join DJ Drama on Tipper Love. The song is definitely what you expect from The-Dream. Too Short adds his traditionally racy lyrics to the track.
Love For Money features Flo Rida, Trey Songz, Gucci Man, Yung Joc, Bun-B, LA The Darkman and Willie The Kid. The song is the standard posse cut. Each of the rappers only has a limited time to show off his skills which limits the track.
Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Yo Gotti and Lonnie Mac team up on Ridiculous. The song definitely has the potential to be a big hit in the South.
Overall Gangsta Grillz: The Album Volume 2 is a fairly strong mixtape album. However, the album just does not live up to the strength of Volume 1. Overall Gangsta Grillz: The Album Volume 2 gets 7.5 out of 10. If you are a fan of DJ Drama make sure you pick up Gangsta Grillz: The Album Volume 2 when it is available in stores on May 19th.
