DLO IPod Action Jacket: Inexpensive and Effective

Todd B.
For many who work out, music is a must. The creation of the iPod has launched many into bringing their MP3 players to the gym. While many companies manufacture sleeves that attach to armbands for the iPod Nano and Shuffle, I had a hard time finding one for my full sized, 80-gigabyte video iPod. Then I found DLO's Action Jacket. I was worried about performance, but DLO offers a great product.

The Good

Size

The Action Jacket has a style that was created specifically for the iPod classic, as well as the iPod video. The case that surrounds the actual iPod itself is the perfect size for these two iPods, and safely and securely keeps them in the pouch with a velcro strap located at the top. While it is large enough to fit the iPod, it is small enough that it can fit on the bicep of the arm without interfering or becoming a nuisance.

Access

The Action Jacket by DLO features an opening for the click-wheel, allowing you to change songs on the fly as easy as you would if it was not in a case. It also features a clear cover for the screen, as well as an opening at the top for the lock and headphone jack, as well as an opening at the bottom for the iPod computer/charger connection.

Accessories

DLO did an amazing job with the armband that secures the pouch to your arm. It fits snugly and tightly, and keeps the iPod from interrupting your workout. It is close enough to give the headphone cord enough slack, but far enough to stay out of your way. The belt look that swivels 360 degrees is also a good accessory for those who would rather not have the iPod on their arm.

The Not So Good

Size

While size was a plus for this product, it also was the only slight negative that I could find with the product. My 80GB video iPod did fit in the case. Trying to get it in and out of the case, however, proved to be somewhat of a challenge. It was almost too tight, and required a little bit of work and wrestling to get the iPod in, and again, out of the case. This could be seen as a positive, however, as you do not have to worry about your iPod flying out of the protective case.

While this is the only armband that I have used for working out with my iPod, it is easily one of the best on the market. It is inexpensive, but most importantly, safely and effectively gets the job done.
