Do I Believe in Ghosts? You Bet I Do!

Jessica Ann
I remember it like it was yesterday when my mother told me about the ghost in her house. It wasn't technically her home, but a house that she spent a little time in. The home actually was occupied by my uncle for some time and she spent a few months there while the family was moving around. Whether I believed my mother at the time was not that important. My mother believed it and that's all that mattered. However, I would make a firm decision on the matter soon after taking over occupancy of this house.

I was living in my first apartment at the time and the offer to live in a home, away from my noisy neighbors who were on completely different functioning hours than I was, seemed the most appealing offer at the time. I wasn't in the least bit worried about the story my mother told me where she was laying on the sofa in the living room and she felt a finger get dragged all the way up her back. Maybe there are several reasonable explanations as to what that was. It could have been a spasm or even her imagination. At least that's what I thought until I had my own experiences.

I had been living there for several months when I started hearing the voices. They weren't intelligible enough to understand, but they were there. I'd occasionally hear them when the radio or television was on, never in a quiet setting, which probably would of had me fleeing for my life. At the time I just tried to chalk it up to interference. Soon after however I started to lose items from my kitchen. I believe the tally when I left was two cooking pots and a cookie sheet. These are not small items that I just lost track of as I can attest that I searched that house high and low for them and they never turned up, even when I packed everything up to move.

In case you're wondering, no I didn't move because I thought the house was haunted, it was just time. I believe that ghosts can follow people no matter where they go. I mean, I've seen Poltergeist so I know how it works. It appeared though that was not going to be my case. After I moved I didn't have any so called paranormal activity. Nothing turned up missing and no voices. Since I figured I had a ghost who liked to play games, I was never worried and maybe even missed those things for a while.

Life went on as it should until the last year or so. I've been convinced for a while now that I have a new form of ghost in the home I live in now. Before it was missing items and noises whereas now I was seeing things. I tried for a while to chalk it up to lighting, my eyes playing tricks on me or even the dog. Unfortunately, half the time the dog is next to me, there is no explanation for the lighting to make blurs move across my living room and I have seen this in the daytime as well as the nighttime. I usually catch a glimpse of a figure moving about the living room through two doorways. I also see the same things from my bedroom doorway. It doesn't so much as frighten me as it does bother me. I figured if it was a bad ghost, then the ghost would have done something by now. I like to think it's my father watching over me, but I don't get that feeling. It seems more that whatever it is, we are just sharing space for now.

I'm was pretty confident about this since my husband has seen the same thing, only not as often. I think just recently he had an encounter that definitely convinced him that we are not alone here. The other night I had already gone to bed and he entered the doorway to get the dog out and close the door as he had more work to do. He swore that I was standing in the doorway, like I was getting ready to walk out just as he walked in, so he stretched out his arms and when he tried to wrap them around me for a hug, he got nothing but air. He told me that he had never freaked out so much when he turned the light on to find me in bed sound asleep. I think that would freak me out too.

Do I believe in ghosts? You bet I do!

I love ghost stories and I do believe. Wish Jessica Ann had told us about her mother's ghost experience too. Could it have been the same ghost. Were things missing or what?
