Do You Believe the Power of the Moon?

Do You Believe in Moon Myths?

Sea Shepherd
It has been known for centuries that the full moon can affect people's consciousness, emotions, and behaviour. In astrology, the moon represents our emotions and tied to "the mother". Sensitive people feel the affects of a full moon three days before and after it appear. These sensations might cause a person to have a hard time to sleep at night because of the energy effects of the moon.

It is only recently that I have discovered why this may be happening. NASA's scientists have realized that something does happen every month when the Moon passes through Earth's magnetic tail. According to the definition of a magnetic tail, it is formed by solar winds blowing electrified gases, plasma, trapped in a planet's magnetosphere away from the sun. Earth's magnetic tail extends beyond the orbit of the Moon.

On April 16th, there was an article on NASA's website called "The Moon and the Magetotail." According to Tim Stubbs who is a scientist at the University of Maryland at the Goddard Space Flight Center, he said, "Earth's magnetotail extends well beyond the orbit of the Moon and, once a month, the Moon orbits through it. This can have consequences ranging from lunar 'dust storms' to electrostatic discharges. Anyone can tell when the Moon is inside the magnetotail. Just look at it. If the Moon is full, it is inside the magnetotail, - the Moon enters the magnetotail three days before it is full and takes about six days to cross and exit on the other side."

Our human consciousness, our spirit, is made up of a field of energy called an aura. Think of it like the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) which is magnetic and gravitational field of our planet. You can actually see your aura if you practice. In fact those people who are extra sensitive/psychic can look at a person and see the color that surrounds them. This is actually one way, a good psychic can tell a lot about a person's personality and that person's own psychic abilities. We are all psychic. It's just that some of us know how to use it. It's called your intuitions. To practice seeing your aura, click, "here."

Another way to feel your energy is taking the open palms of your hands, start out about 6 inches apart, and slowly bring them in - moving one palm up and one down- but don't touch the palms together. You can feel the energy the closer your hands come. Depending on your sensitivity, you can feel it a several inches apart.
So this magnetotail explains a lot. When the moon charges up when within the tail and becomes much more electrical and magnetic, it is only normal that this increase in power should be felt on Earth.

There are many other relationships we have found to the moon through myths. Whether these myths are true or not is left up to your own consciousness.

Here are some myths I have come across:

The body is made up of 70 to 80% of water. The moon affects our emotions because the moon influences water; just as the moon causes the tides, it exerts a pull on the watery components of our body, and we feel this as emotions.

Blowing on warts nine times at the full Moon could cure warts.

When a misty ring circles the Moon, it means rain to come. If the circle is large, it will rain very soon. Several concentric circles mean a long period of wet weather.

There are more births around a full moon than any other time of the month.

In winter months, a clear moon means frost is on the way.

A bright clear yellow moon rising in a cloudless sky means fine weather to come.

Putting a crystal out under a full moon will cleanse and charge it.

Sleeping in moonlight was once said to be dangerous because it led to lunacy, blindness or some other serious disorder. In the word "lunacy" derives from the moon which means madness.

Seizures are brought on from a full moon - When researchers at the University of Patras Medical School in Greece decided to look into this old moon lore, they found that there could be something to it. They reviewed all records of 859 patients admitted for seizure and found "significant clustering of seizures" around the full moon

Whether you believe or you don't believe is a personal choice. Nevertheless, there is nothing more mystical than a beautiful full moon on clear starry night!

I believe that the power of the moon affects the mind and also the labor room. The psychiatric patients in the hospital were often rowdy then.. and the expectant moms liked to deliver just after a full moon. This seemed to be the times we were the busiest.

The Moon is nothing more than a punk. It fears the Sun like none other. The few times it goes face to face with the bright titan, It crosses it's path and does absolutely nothing. What's up with that?

This was an especially enjoyable article, Irene! I remember when I was a probation officer -- when the caseload seemed to be falling apart with new criminal activity, etc, it virtually never failed it was a full moon. Any connection? I dunno, but we all swore by it.
