Do Celebrities Leak Nude Photos and Videos on Purpose for Fame?

Mark Mielke
If I were to ask you what all of your favorite celebrities have in common, I'm willing to bet that something not so nice came to mind. Yes indeed, it seems like every famous female celebrity out there has "bared all" for the camera. In fact, it seems to me that the most famous ones are sure to have something like that out there on the internet. Why do you suppose that is? Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe they might be leaking those pictures on purpose? Don't dismiss me; you know you have been thinking something similar.

Recall back to the days when the internet was still young. Do you remember the first infamous Paris Hilton sex tape? You do? Good. Now I want you to try to remember something she did before the sex tape circulated. You can't think of anything, can you? Ask around and I bet you will find that not many of your friends or family can, either. Why? Before that sex tape circulated, nobody even knew who Paris Hilton was! Yet look at her now. She is always the center of somebody's conversation and she sells perfume and fragrances to teenagers and keeps getting parts in movies. Why do you think that is? The tape obviously gave her a certain degree of fame. Cheap fame, of course, but fame nonetheless.

How about Vanessa Hudgens, star of Disney's hit High School Musical? Sure, kids knew her when she landed the role of Gabriella Montez, but now a great deal of people know her. When did the change happen? Very soon after nude photos of her circulated on the internet. Terrible, right? But despite the obvious negative ramifications of this situation, both Disney and Hudgens received a large amount of attention and press. And Hudgens got her widespread fame. I wouldn't be surprised if she leaked the photos herself, considering how positive they've been to her career.

Isn't it kind of a strange that all of these pictures and videos keep heightening the fame of their subjects? There used to be a time when nude pictures or videos of yourself circulating the internet was a bad thing. Now, it seems like it's the latest fad. After Paris Hilton's success, I wonder if the other stars didn't catch on and start duplicating the feat. It just seems a little too easy to get these things leaked. I don't know, it's something to think about.
