Do Death Threats Affect Erin Andrews Dancing with the Stars Performance?

Joyce Carole
It has been a tumultuous week for DWTS's Erin Andrews as news surfaced last week that someone had sent death threats against the ESPN sports commentator to a national sports talk radio show. There has been no word as to who the person is who has been sending the threatening emails against Erin Andrews, though according to ABC's Entertainment Tonight, police believe it to be someone from the East Coast.

The Show Must Go On

There had been some speculation as to whether Andrews would perform on this week's Dancing with the Stars. Erin put any rumors of her bowing out of the performance to rest by announcing that she would continue performing. She did not want to disappoint her family, her DWTS's partner, or herself. You have to give kudos to Erin for courage.

Erin Andrew's Dancing with the Stars Performance

Erin Andrews and her Dancing with the Stars' partner, Maxsim Chmerkovskiy performed a waltz with a twist. Erin was blindfolded during a portion of the performance. The dance's damsel in distress theme was oddly appropriate with the death threats against Andrews in the news this past week. Carrie Ann told the couple they did a beautiful job with the storytelling. Len, on the other hand, said it was a boring performance that took too long to get started. I thought the dance was elegant, though it did get off to a slow start. The judges gave the couple a score of 23 out of 30, which was one of the highest scores of the night.

I give Erin Andrews, and her nerves of steel, a lot of credit for holding it together this week despite frightening drama. I hope that America continues to vote for the ESPN host who deserves another opportunity to show America what she can do on the Dancing with the Stars' dance floor. She remains my pick to win the 2010 season of Dancing with the Stars.

Hmmm, death treats bring audience. I wonder if this could all be just a gimmick?
