Do You Find Nicki Minaj to Be Sexy

Desirability is a huge impetus to the success of a female artist. Either her talent and personality makes her sexy, or she is hot because she is attractive but either way a woman's physical attributes can go just as far into making her a success as her artistic abilities can. I had never really considered Nicki Minaj before, but I do have a few ideas about why a lot of men and women find her to be sexy.

For myself Nicki Minaj has a pretty face, but then again there are millions of women with a pretty face both in the media and that I come across daily. She doesn't look like your typical Black Woman as she is of Afro-Trinidadian and Indo-Trinidadian decent. That is a nice way of saying that she is Black, but not necessarily African-American but she is Trinidadian and has a bit of Asian in her as well. Seeing that a lot of people have a weakness for anything deemed exotic (which in America is anyone who is not traditionally White or Black) I could see why a lot of guys would like her.

There are other Black Women of mixed ancestry that I do find to be attractive. I have always been a big fan of Cassie and can even get with Rhianna, but Nicki Minaj does not really do it for me. Her eccentric behavior makes her sexier than she would normally be, but then again it makes me think that without that layer she wouldn't be very interesting at all, so then it sort of makes her not as sexy as she could be. A lot of people have issues with the whole exotic thing and I see nothing wrong with it at all.

For different people exotic means different things. Myself I tend to find the African models that walk the runway to be exotic. I actually like Alek Wek; but I think for me the beauty seems to be more of a reflection of who she is inside as opposed to traditional beauty. She has a beautiful smile as well, and has that positive energy that radiates from within her, and there is a lot that can be said for that.

But is my appreciation of Black beauty more Euro-centric than it is Afrocentric? Is it a quest for "authenticity" that makes some of us feel that some Black Women are more beautiful than others? Is there anything wrong with liking someone that does not fit traditional norms of beauty in the African-American community, or that are not really African-American for what it is worth? To me Nicki Minaj is cute, but she does not have the physical attributes that cause me to consider someone so I would really have to see her in different situations or actually converse with her to want to know more. She isn't Alicia Keys or Halle Berry, who everyone would agree are attractive.

The other component to men finding Nicki Minaj to be desirable has to do with her sexuality. We haven't seen her with any men publicly and she lets on that she is open to women pursuing her but are indifferent to men doing so. A lot of us are up to a challenge, and would have a crush on her simply because she may be unavailable sexually, or she could be a third wheel with some other girl and be viewed as sexy because she would be okay with that. Or so we think, we don't really know, but that makes things a bit easier for us. Whatever you think of Nicki Minaj she may be around for a while. Whether you have a crush on her or not ...
