Do You Follow a Sports Betting System?

Troy Powers
Ever since I placed my first bet I always had followed some type of handicapping system. Some of the systems I would follow were very simply and not much of a system but there was a system. Just trying to select the winning team without any sports handicapping methods is a little risky to me.

Most people do follow some type of sports betting system, they may not realize it but they probably follow injury reports or some simple tracking method that will help in their sports betting selections. Even thought they may only be betting on a team because certain are back from injury that still is a system. Not a complex system but that is the angle in which they make a decision.

Of course they are much more to a valuable system than the playing condition of a single player. The key to put together a list of components that you feel have the greatest factor in determining a winner. Some people will place a bet simply because they are fans of that team. Most will require a little more of a reason than that. When money is involved people thing differently.

Usually a sports handicapper can make an argument for betting both side but it is essential that one stays with certain variable and keep changing the system. Once you have a system that you feel can produce wining selections for you then you need to stay loyal to that system and follow it concisely.

Not only is trying to select winners with no system intact unwise also changing your system too often can be just as dangerous. Thinking you can with every selection is unrealistic and impossible. Some sports handicapping systems make outrageous promises that are just not possible. I have seen some that claim to pick 90% winners daily. Now if that was the case then why would they need you? Winning 90% of your selections would generate so much money I doubt they would really want to share such a winner system.

When handicapping sports do not try to factor every variable you can think of. Many just cancel each other out. I myself like to handicap sports by using power rating, current trends, and review past match ups and then I will consider any emotional factors that could affect the outcome. Those 5 components are enough to make a smart decision on who should win. Just because you selection fails to cover does not mean it was a bad pick. Many good picks fail to cover because of some fluke occurrence. Just stay with what you feel works and you should be fine.
