First Step
You want to exfoliate your face before applying a mask. The best way to do this is to take two tablespoons of cornmeal and add 1 tablespoon of water. mix well to form a paste and apply to your skin. Rub gently in a circular motion and you should feel the grains working gently as it sloughs away flaky skin. You don't want to rub too hard where it feels uncomfortable, remember to use your fingertips and gently press them against your skin. Once you have washed your face and neck, rinse with warm water until all the paste is removed.
Pat dry with a soft towel and let's start mixing some thins together to make a nice soothing face mask!
Honey & Milk Mask
2 tbsp honey
2 tsp half & half or whole milk
1 Vitamin E Capsule
Mix ingredients together. Warm in microwave for about 10 seconds. Mix again. Dip your finger in the mixture to make sure it is not too warm. You want to be sure it feels soothing, not hot. Once the temperature is to your liking, dab it on your face until it is covered. Of course you want to avoid your eye area. Once applied, leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and washcloth. Pat skin dry.
This mask is very soothing for your skin. Honey is wonderful for your skin. It is well known to soothe skin and honey has an excellent capacity to retain water so when combined with milk, it really moisturizes your skin. Adding the vitamin E just gives this mask a power boost!
Pumpkin Face Mask
2 tbsp pumpkin puree
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp milk
1 Vitamin E Capsule
A pumpkin face mask is a special treat because pumpkin is packed with vitamins A & C! Vitamin A is great for your skin because it has skin healing enzymes. Vitamin C is an antioxidant which is a helpful ingredient in a face mask. The same instructions apply - apply to face, leave on 10-15 minutes then rinse and pat dry!
Avocado & Yogurt Face Mask
2 tbsp mashed avocado
1 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp olive or grapeseed oil
Mix ingredients well. Apply to face. Let mixture remain on face for 10-15 minutes Rinse with warm water and pat skin dry.
For extra deep cleansing, you can follow your face mask with a good pH balancing toner. Did you know apple cider vinegar makes a great toner? It must be diluted of course or it will burn your skin. Here is a great recipe for making your own skin toner:
Apple Cider & Green Tea Toner
1/4 cup unfiltered apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup cooled green tea (just steep hot water over green tea and let cool)
Pour into a clean bottle and dab a cotton ball with the toner. Sweep over face, avoiding the eyes. Use nightly and you will see acne disappear! You can store the bottle in your fridge. The coolness feels great against your skin!
I hope you enjoyed these fun beauty tips!! I love making my own beauty recipes! Using natural ingredients from your kitchen is so much better than putting unknown chemicals on your skin. Plus it's cheaper than buying all those face creams and washes at the store! It's the best of both worlds!
