Do the Improved Goalie Controls for Yooyuball Really Mean More Control?

Miss Fortune

More than a few people were irked when Neopets changed the controls for Yooyuball; instead of being able to use the mouse you now have to use the control arrow keys. That presented a real problem for left handed people so they added the A-S-D-W option. That's great but almost everyone wants the original control feature back. One thing that was blisteringly evident during the practice games that were available before the Altador Cup started was that the goalie was almost completely useless. The Neopet News announced that there would be a new module added that allowed for complete control of the goalie.

I sat there and thought "I wonder how long the site will be screwed up from this fix". The answer? It's still not working right. Even though players now have the option to control the goalie the rest of the Yooyuball game is suffering. Even in the low resolution mode it lags and the graphics are choppy. If you want to control the goalie you can press the "V" button when you see it above the goal; the yellow circle under the goalie will turn blue letting you know that the arrows will now control it. Once the ball moves out of the range of the goalie the controls will automatically revert to their normal functions. You also have the option to hit the "V" key again to turn off the control of the goalie.

After playing around with it a few times I decided that its not worth the frustration to use the control. At this stage I can get at least six to eight goals a game so I'm not going to sit there and try to save a ball unless I am trying to beat my person best of a twelve goal shut out. While I applaud Neopets for adding this type of control it should have never been needed; there was nothing wrong with using the mouse and the way the game was played in the past. I did try the regular full graphic version of Yooyuball and it was absolutely horrible. I pity anyone that doesn't know that there is a low-res version they can use.
