Do You Know What Changes Have Been Made in Fifty Years

Find Out and Be Shocked

Harriet Steinberg
Lots of changes have taken place within the last fifty years. For those of you who have not been around during that time, you might be surprised. Here they are:

The average wages per year was $4,600

The average cost of a new home was $12,750

A galllon of gas was 25 cents

Elvis Presley was inducted into the army

Alaska became the 40th state

You could get a new car anywhere from $2,695 - $4,347. My 1971 Dodge, which I still have today, cost me $4,000. The picture of it is on the top of this page.

If you've been around fifty or more years, let us know what you remember, or what your parents may have told you.
