This message speaks to me of two things. First, it causes me to look at my relationship with the Lord. Am I in truly intimate relationship with Him? Or am I keeping Him at arm's length? Jesus is the lover of my soul. We are called the "Bride of Christ." That implies a relationship as intimate as a marriage relationship is, or should be. If I find myself holding Jesus at arm's length, then I have to ask myself why. What am I doing or not doing that's causing me to pull away? Is there some shame, guilt, or condemnation in my heart? If so, why? Its usually one of the three-shame, guilt, or condemnation that cause us to pull away. We know when things are not right within us, and we know-usually what the root of the problem is. But Jesus is faithful and just to forgive uswhen we confess our sins to Him.
Its like, say, your hubby says to you, "Okay, no more spending this month", but you go ahead and buy two new dresses. Now, you feel guilty; first because you disobeyed him, secondly, because now you're hiding the dresses, your disobedience, and your guilt from him, being dishonest and essentially, living a lie. In trying to hide the sin and lies, you subconsciously pull away, and now there's tension in you that hubby senses, etc., etc., etc.
Secondly, this speaks to me about all the treasures we find hidden deep in God's Word, and in the Kingdom-home soil, so to speak. One of the things that happen as scripture is opened up more and more to us is that we gain a more intimate knowledge of the Lord. Of course, that leads to a stronger and more intimate relationship with Him...and in turn, His Word is revealed more and more to us. We are supposed to have the kind of relationship with Jesus that brings us spiritually face to face, heart to heart, arms wrapped around one another in complete abandon and shameless love. Imagine yourself in such a moment of intimacy with your mate or boyfriend or girlfriend; foreheads touching and gazing into each other's eyes lovingly and with complete trust. That's how comfortable we should be in our relationship with the Lord.
Also, the deeper we dig into the soil of the Kingdom, the deeper we will become rooted in the Word of God and in the things of God's Kingdom, and the stronger we will become in spirit. When you know who you know, and you know what you know, there's not a force on earth or in hell, for that matter, that can defeat you.
