As you can see, I gained weight. The animated Wii Fit balance board asked me if I knew the cause of my weight gain. Yes, I do. I had pizza and beer over the weekend. I ate pizza three days in a row and threw back a few beers over the weekend. We were at parties and that was the menu option I chose. I am still exercising and measuring at the same time of day, every day, to ensure consistent results. Now, more than ever, I realize that I must count calories, or at least journal my eating.
Keeping track of my eating habits should be easy enough. I've opted for the iPhone app, Lose It. It was free to download and it keeps up with my foods and weight loss goals. I hate having to type in (or select from their pre typed list) my eating record, but it does help keep up with where my calories go. I've also tried to pay closer attention to the types of calories I put in my body. For example, I know my extra poundage came from those beers and all that bread. Throw in a soda or two and a cookie and you have the recipe for weight gain. My body needs a balanced diet.
Wii Fit is still holding my interest. Even though I've unlocked all the wii fit games, I am still sticking with the aerobic games for the most part. Within this category, I spend most of my exercise time doing step aerobics, cardio boxing, and jogging. I also think that I should swap out hula hoop for 10 minutes instead of the step aerobics. Moving my hips and thighs like that means I'm working my major muscle groups and getting a bigger caloric burn.
You've witnessed my first setback with Wii. Let's see if next week I can't right the ship and get back on the weight loss path. I'm still lighter than when I began, so I hope for the best.
